Did a little T&T last night. Air was great, track was slick as baby snot... I kept blowing the tires off pass after pass, no matter how easy I launched. Finally I got one full pass it didn't spin on, although it was a VERY soft launch as you'll see here..

This was in full street trim, just trying to test the new converter. I had way better air this time but combined with that and the new converter, it seems to have picked up 5 mph... Although with the soft 1.55 60' compared to last trip out 1.35 60', the mph may be a tad inflated.... I guess we'll see next weekend at the rental.. The converter is still way loose, tightens up nicely after the 1/4 traps though..LOL... I may pull it back out and send it in for tightening after the next week's rental. I still think it is eating up too much power down the track... Notice the shift light(6700) on before the 1000' mark in high gear...LOL

This was street trim, still running thru the air filter, pump gas, street tune, 15* timing...

Next week at the Texas Invitational rental, it will be on kill... Maybe see 152 or more if I get some more good air and a track that hooks.

The battle continues...

Car is moving... congrats on the times and mph. Are you shooting for an 8? You said it 60' in the 1.35 range which should put you there for an 8.

I'd be happy to row to a mid 10 in street trim, 19's and all.

Very cool Alan. I assume the easy leave was on purpose?
Good to see you back out making hits.
Looking forward to hearing about next weekend.

Hi Ron, yes the soft leave was on purpose. The car was blowing the tires off on every pass...Even leaving softly and rolling in the throttle it would blow em off.... This was the only pass it didn't spin but....leaving as slowly as I did, I couldn't have launched any easier. A 1.55 60' feels TERRIBLY slow in this car.... Where as 1.55 in my 71' actually feels pretty good..LOL

Using Ricer Math, If I had my 1.35 60' from Nov on this 9.33 pass, it would have been a 9.13... If not a 9.10... Hopefully with the 50-60hp I still have in reserve (velocity stack, Q16 and some timing), I can get a 9.00 Or MAYYYBBBEE an 8.99999... Probably gonna need a 1.31 60' to go an 8.9x though..

The Alchemist, I didn't really have a goal of running 8s with the car... I really just wanted a consistent 150 mph trap car in street trim and on pump gas.... I ran 149 with the stick tranny but kept breaking everything behind the motor... Auto knocked 7 tenths off and runs the same mph, even though I added 170lbs worth of weight to the car..(auto stuff and roll cage)

We'll see what she'll do on kill next weekend... Hopefully the weather is decent and track is sticky as glue..

I was seeing around 22 psi at the traps@6800...Not really making any power there though... Peak power is like 6300-6400 at around 20 psi, then it starts nosing over... (small cam). 295/50/16 Hoosier DR..(28"), 3.42 gear

Yes that is for sure.. The new FTI converter is still too loose also but...It definitely gained some MPH with it. However I had way better air this time out. I may send the converter back to FTI to have it tightened back up a bit... Depends on how the car runs next weekend... If it goes 8.99@152 on a good hooking track and the car set on kill, I ain't touching it...

ARUN went 8.80s in a C5Z with an RPM level 7...I know...

Rodney with RPM himself went 8.80 in a 4000lb 5th gen Camaro with a 60e...

I'm sure there has been a vette or two in the 8.70s with a 60e... They won't last forever but they can hold some power... Atleast RPM's Level 7s can...

Well, the track rental was awesome, track prep was excellent.... Weather was decent... ANNNNDDDD... I only got one pass.... Blew something in the rear end on the 2nd pass... Pretty sure its a left side axle.

First pass off the trailer, very soft launch, pump gas, thru the air filter, street tune:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfG7...ature=youtu.be

Soft launch, just testing to see if the track would hold, and it damn sure did... +354' DA.

Short cool down, got back in line, went for the hero pass in full street trim, 2k rpms/full throttle stomp launch... didn't make it 5'....
So apart she comes again.. Hopefully its just an axle, also gonna send the converter back to FTI to tighten it some. Hits WAY too hard on the launch and very loose on the back half.... 151 mph was 6850 rpms..

Pretty sure it was gonna run 152-153 with the air filter off and velocity stack on...not to mention some race fuel and timing, maybe 153-154... BUUUTT.... I wont know to next year now... Gonna fix it and just cruise it for the summer.... Next winter, we'll try for that elusive 8 again... Definitely has more then enough power, just have to get it out of the hole without blowing the tires off or scattering parts..

Awesome! Well, not the breaking something part.

15* of timing on pump 93? With meth?

PS,

Update the time in your sig.

Yes I had 15* timing, 93/meth.. About 22 psi of boost..

For the second pass, I dumped in 5 gals of Q16 and the rear broke...lol

I was planning on making the second pass on q16 and see how much it gained...then I was gonna put the velocity stack on the blower, bump timing to 17* and let it eat on the third pass shooting for 8.90.... But never made it that far.

Sucks about the rear. Are you running a c5 diff? I had my fingers crossed that you would get an 8.
