Turbosmart vs precision wastegates
I've searched but not finding the info I'm looking for. I was going to get a knock off but figured ill step up for a good gate.
I'm looking for a gate for my pt88. I plan to run fairly low boost (7psi) next year so I figured a 60mm wastegate is a must. (Correct me if I'm wrong). I'll turn it up when my other motor goes in
Seems like the precision 66 is a few dollars cheaper but if the turbo smart is a much better unit I can handle that. I've found them within $30 of each other. Lots of good info on the turbosmart but not a lot on the precision unit.
Thanks for your opinion!

I looked into jgs but a 60mm jgs was the same if not more then the turbosmart or percision.
Now if a jgs 50mm would work then that would be a different story. Just didn't think a 50mm would take me that low on boost.

My tial 44mm controlled down to 5 psi with a t6/85mm turbine and now 6.5 psi on my t4 tc7875.
This is both on the same motor and cam, stock ls1.
Either gate I would hope would do the trick.

I'd love to save some cash with a jgs 50mm but didn't think it would allow such a low boost setting. I'm trying to keep the stock motor alive until a certain show I go to every year with a group of friends so I'd be even more pissed to use a 50mm and not be able to keep it under 7psi

Lol. I'm trying to keep a stock drive train together until my lq4/80e/8.8 is all ready to swap in. I figured it's to exensive to do all the drive train plus turbo kit at one time. I just don't have the funds for that kind of winter project lol. So I'm building the kit first then this winter I'll put all the drive train in it and turn it up!

On my stock LQ4 I was able to gate my boost down 3.5psi (spring pressure) with a 60mm JGS gate (AMS 1000 w/CO2). It worked great!
It is not enough now to gate the new 403 methanol setup (boost creep) so ordering a second 60mm to address that issue.
I will only use JGS, way too much luck so far on many projects with JGS to change. Just my $0.02.
