Need advice on what gears to run on my turbo camaro

Default Need advice on what gears to run on my turbo camaro

Hey what's up guys well like the tittle says need some advice on what gearing to run on my set up.my car is a 2002 camaro and currently have 9" with 370 gears with a 28" tall tire.and my set up is:

*Forged 383
*4l80e with a circle D converter (3600 stall)
With jakes trans brake
*Garret gt4788 turbo
*custom turbo cam

Would really appreciate any help ASAP.and thanks for the help guys

Any specific brand on the gearing?and what gearing would u recommend from 323 or 342?

I don't think you'll notice much of a difference with either unless your a big drag racer and worried about rpms, etc. I went with 342's because they were a lot cheaper for a Moser 12. Not too familiar with 9's.

The calculator I used said that I would be at 64mph at 2,500 rpm with my th400, 3.25 rear gears (9") and my 325/50 tires (28").

The same calculator said that you would be at 75mph@2,500 rpm with that gear and tire.

Of course all of these numbers could be different depending on the "slippage" of the converter. These numbers should give a ball park figure as to what you are looking at.

Thanks guys that really helps me decide what gears to go with.what brand gearing would u recommend or what brand are the usual brand people prefer?

I run an 80 with 3.08 and 28" tire. Cruise Rpms are around 1800 at 70. The gear loads the turbo hard.

Would it be that big of a difference from 3.25 to 3.08?because I will be ordering a set of ring&pinion set on Monday.

I would leave the 3.70 in the car if you are going to drag race it.
