Default idle issues when in gear, need help

So i finally got everything buttoned up on my car and was gonna take it for a spin but ran into a issue. In park/neutral it idles and revs just fine, however when i put it in gear it really slams into gear and starts to surge really bad till it gets so bad i have to put back in park. Any ideas?

Is the trans controlled by the ECM? If so it sounds like 1st needs to be adjusted to smooth the shift and In-gear airflow sounds off. All in the tune I'd imagine.

not knowing what was done to the car, to high of an idle, to tight of a converter, large cam and tight converter, etc, etc
sometimes to lean at an idle will cause surging

I'd imagine its just because you have a base map. Likely going to have driveability issues.

It's interesting that the shift into drive is so harsh on a manual TH350. Maybe talk to whomever built it. Unfortunately I do not have a lot of experience with built auto's.

The idle issues are 100% in the tune if it's just a base get you running tune. That's a slightly more mild cam than I use to have and idle should not be a problem in park or drive.

got the wideband hooked up and its pinned at 16.00 and still dies out in gear. Took the fuel pressure up to 75 psi and no change from the 16.00. Heres a vid of it...

Next is do yout think the wideband could be getting a shitty reading from where its at? Its a 5" downpipe at 18" total length....

Is your stock tach working and speedometer? Could be a idle issue with the ECU not seeing the MPH in gear to know where to be at.

I was thinking about the gauges being a problem as well. Since it's swapped into my '94, I haven't had a chance to hook up my factory gauges so to answer your question, no, no dash gauges are hooked up so no tach, speed, water temp or oil pressure.

I bet it's working and hence why it is surging. You have a lean surge. The fuel pressure helps more in the duty cycle range. You still have to ad fuel in your base fuel table in the area where the car transitions from park to in gear. If it is 16.00 or higher AFR it will surge horribly when you put it in gear so I think the guage and afr sensor is working properly since that is exactly what your car is doing.

Every car is different but in the transition area my car will surge anything above 14.4 AFR

Not the gauges but if the ECU isn't seeing it then it can do that. Did you do a base idle airflow from cold to warm in gear?

Monster downpipe like that with it so close to the end I would bet it is getting a slightly lean reading. Do you have factory location o2 sensors hooked up? Any chance you could unplug one and throw the wideband in thy location to see?
