Default Turbo and cam for 383 ls stroker

I'm building a 383 ls stroker that was originally a 5.3 vortec, this will be my first turbo build. I'm looking to find out which turbo and cam would best suit my application. Budget isn't that big of a deal. I would preferably like to get a precision or garrett turbo. I'm looking to get 800 HP out of my motor, it will be a daily driver and ocassionally be put on the track. I have a callies compstar rotating assembly, Wiesco -32cc dish top pistons, Comp Cams roller lifters, stock heads with a valve job, trunion kit, new springs, and titanium retainers, fast intake, melling high volume oil pump, katech timing chain, and ARP head and main studs.

800whp is a firm goal or do you need room to grow? 93 octane? Single needed or willing to do twins?

I'm looking to run it on regular 87 octane pump gas, with a single turbo. 800 HP is just what I would like it to be around, if it ends up being more it's not a big deal. I would just rather it wouldn't be under that. Whatever I do I would just like it to be reliable.

That's not going to happen on 87 octane. If you are willing to run 93 we can talk about your options.

As Jack said, you will have to run 93 octane.

Are you running the 5.3 heads?

As for which Garrett turbo would suit your needs, a GT4508 would work. The exhaust housing options could be tailored for your specific combination to help with spool time and top end power output. A GT4708 would leave you room to grow and IMO the turbine wheel better suits the 383" engine you have.

Are you against a Borg Warner unit? IMO they are a nice alternative to PTE and Garrett and are normally priced lower to boot.

Yes I'm running the 5.3 heads, and with the information I have now I will be running 93 octane. Sorry if I sound ignorant, this is my first build. I'm not against a Borg Warner turbo either, I just wanted something that will be reliable for my build. I would also like to know which A/R ratio for a T4 flange, waste gate, BOV, and exhaust size would be recommended.

7675 on a 383 stroker?? gonna be a little short on turbine...

If you haven't put the motor together yet... send the pistons back and get the 15cc dish ones...

A 230/235 114+4 ish cam in a 8.3:1 ( with the 32cc dish pistons) 383 is about all i would consider running giving the extremely low static compression.

A borg Warner S480 with a 96/1.32 hotside would make that power... they start at 899 and can go all the way to 2199 depending on what options you want... billet wheel, Race cover etc etc.
