Default Twin Holsets (HY35 or HX35)

I have built multiple 4 and 6 cylinder vehicles with HY35, HX35, HX40, HX35/40 hybrids, and older models including H1C and H1E. Very familiar with them and like them a lot.

I think a set of the Hy35's would be a nice twin setup for 700-800whp and would spool pretty fast. Anyone know of a build thread using twin holsets with spool info, dyno numbers, track times, ect?

Put a pair of HY's on a 23 degree 355 back in like.... 07.... made 730 to the tire iirc.... blowthru setup... I dont think 800-850 would be a problem considering the Hy35 flows like 56 lb/min each.

Very interested in this, I have 2 H1C's laying around off of 1st gen Cummins and a HX35 off a 2nd gen Cummins. Would make my 5.3 build a lot cheaper.

What kind of boost did it take to get there? What were the supporting mods? How did it spool? Thanks!

Im actually looking at the HE341 and HE351 now for twins. Both still have the 9cm turbine housings but higher flowing compressor wheels. The 341 has a 56 or 58mm compressor inducer and the 351 has a 60mm inducer. There is a 351 locally for $200. I might snag it. 2 of these bastards would take up alot of room though. The 351 compressor housing is large.

The china ebay copies seem to be doing well looking at a couople diesel forums. Ebay sells them for under 300. Hy35 HX35 etc... They all claim to have the 68mm comp wheel. I've asked 4 different dealers now and none of them have a clue. You should order a pair and let us know if these specs are legit or not... Looking at the pictures the hy35 looks to have a considerable smaller hotside (as it should) yet they list the same wheel dimensions in the description.

If the specs are correct, I like the Compressor VS turbine ratio. Internal gates are nice for packaging as well.

Specs are all over the place on the wheels and housing. I'd bet they are all wrong. I'd really like to see one though!

If they are actually replicas, then I can tell you that the compressor inducer on a HY35 is NOT 68.7mm, and the turbine exducer on a HY35 is NOT 77.8mm. They are both <60mm. This must be a typo. I will research it. I guarantee someone from a 4-cylinder forum has purchased one, and taken measurements before. Let me look around.

Another seller just replied saying they are upgraded units with larger wheels. (still don't believe it) but if you were to order one you could return it on their dime if it isn't what they say it is.

Spool wise I have to say I have always seen the HX35 spool better than the HY35. My daily driver has the HY35 on it and im not that impressed with the spool. I have also driven trucks that had the HX35 and they in my opinion seem to spool a lot better than the HY35. But thats just my opinion maybe some others could chime in with their expirence.

That's real weird that your hy spools slower than your hx. Most hy35's have a 9 cm exhaust housing and the hx have a 12 or a 16 or 18 or 21 cm housing so the hx should spool a fair amount later than the hy. I ran a hx35 on my acura and it would get down and dirty above 15psi. I daily drove it at 26 psi on pump gas. I still would like to see a set of holsets on a 6.0

Yeah that's why I was a little suprised reading that the HY35 is supposed to spool quicker.
