Default 408 w/billet FI S484/96, BR7 or BR8's with 20 psi?

Finishing up my new setup up and was just wondering what you all would recommend as far plug and gap... setup is a iron 408 with PRC LS3 260 heads, 10:1 compression, billet FI S484/96, going to run around 20 psi i'm thinking all said and done, will be using 104 and two nozzles of 100% meth for now.... BR7's at .22???

Depends if your ECU setup requires a resisted plug or not. The BR7 is resisted and the BR8 is not... for an LS conical seal type plug anyway.

Don't think that is correct sir. Believe the "R" is for resisted for their "B" style of plugs.

B style, R resisted. Number=heat range (higher being colder) and P is protruding tip

P's may be an import thing though-

So a BPR8ES is a Protruded, Resisted 8 heat range plug

BR8ES is the same plug non protruded

B8ES is non protruded, non Resisted

BES is a pile of parts.

To the OP, ask and trust your tuner.

I was thinking LS conical seal plug...aren't LS3 heads conical seal? The BR8es is a gasket seal type.

These plugs are 13/16 hex....

This site will give you NGK specs. Just enter the plug number in the search box.

there is no BR8EFS..
Resistor plugs stop at heat range 7....

only way to tell if you need a 7 or an 8 is to start to push it and read the plugs

check for a timing mark, and see if you are turning more than one or two threads a different color

if the plug doesnt show any heat on it... then a 7 is fine....

Just for reference... lots of cars running Br7efs plugs on 15-20 psi with no issues

if you have to go to an 8... but the NGK resistor boot's to put on your plug wires.

I believe the "R" can also indicate recessed? Not always resisted?

I think you are correct if we are talking strictly about a conical seal plug.

I have heard of many running a gasket type seal plug on a conical LS head with no problems. Some say they seal better.

If this is the case an NGK BCR8ES (5430) would be a resisted 8 heat range plug.

Rock auto sells them for $2.60 a plug.

I am subscribing to this thread. That official ngk site is very nice, but it does not bring up the above plug? I wonder why?

I think it may be a motorcycle plug? I never see it mentioned either.
