Default Truck manifolds *Pic*

Hey guys,

I've been scratching my head for a bit trying to figure out which way I want to go with Turbo headers. I trip over these stock manifolds every day in the garage and finally got to looking at them (as I was about to throw them away.)

After googling them for a bit it appears these may be the ones that are being used as the manifolds for the Turbo swaps. Can anyone confirm?

Also, does anyone have a link to someone that offers the Manifold flanges for building a hot side off these manifolds? I think I found one place while searching but I thought it would be a common part.

Cut those triangles off and weld on vbands. So much easier to work with IMO.

So I finally got these things all media blasted and painted up. I mocked them up to see how they went and something doesn't seem right.

The passenger side seems to be just want I want. The drivers side on the other hand will never work with this crazy height. I can't flip it to run out the back because I'll have to run the crossover all the way around the car.

Is it normal for people to use 2 Passenger side Manifolds? I know it doesn't really matter and everyone's situation is different. I think it will make the Drivers side a better fitment for when I fab up the hot side. Here's a picture of the Passenger side flipped facing down on the drivers side.

He beat me to it.

There are many variants of manifold (some stamped steel even) that came on the trucks. You just have one from a different truck than the standard 01-up cast 5.3/4.8 junk. It looks like it will flow great though! Just log those off, weld v-bands on and go to work.

FYI there are no "stamped steel" truck manifolds. That is a myth,They are all cast iron. I did chemical tests on a few sets a while ago and they where all the same. For some odd reason they seem to weld great regardless of what the test results showed. I think the higher levels of silica contribute to that.
