Default Forced air newb. A couple questions.

I am building a 5.3 with a side mount whipple supercharger. I'm thinking about intercooling it. Is the proper order air filter, maf, throttle body, supercharger, intercooler then engine? That is a lot of volume of air between the throttle plate and the intake, will that cause a problem?

Yes. It mounts over the passenger side valve cover.

Any particular reason for not mounting it on the engine like normal?

And what are your goals. Seems like a lot of money and fabrication.

The only fabricating would be for the intercooler. The side mount kit is exactly that, it was never intended to mount above the intake. I already own the supercharger. I just would like to keep IAT's as low as possible. My goals are just to have a nice driver that may go to the track a couple of times a year. It would be nice to see a 12 second time at some point as well.

12s as a goal? What is this going into, what transmission and weight?

12s shouldn't be an issue with any sort of forced induction on an LS, even without an intercooler.

93 C1500 extended cab, short bed, 5.3, 2.3 whipple, mild cam, long tubes, 3" duals, magnaflo mufflers, T56, 4.10, auburn, 28" tire, 4700-4800 with my butt behind the wheel.

My biggest concern is keeping IAT's down without dealing with meth.

Any reason for not wanting to deal with water and meth?

Long road trips, my wife driving, one more thing to carry in the truck, I can't find washer fluid lower than -20. I would rather have a gas and go system.

It doesn't start spraying until you go into boost. Keep your foot out of it on road trips and it won't be an issue.

Nope. Very interested. Air to air was my plan to control IAT's. My concern was is my component order correct? Is the large volume of air between the throttle plate and the intake an issue?

That doesn't work so well on a supercharger. Boost is based on rpm, it doesn't spool up like a turbo. It will always be in boost to some extent.

I found someone else that has done an intercooler on the whipple. It appears to have worked well until he wanted more boost. So now I'm looking at intercoolers. From what I see it looks like treadstone has a reasonable price withl good IAT drop. What do you guys think?
