Procharger stepping up their game.

I like the spring loaded tensioner better than the alternative manual tensioners. Any price yet on the direct drive? Need this and the new cooler.

Hi Mike, I should have a price on the direct drive shortly. I'll post it here asap. Thanks. Bob

Glad they came out with this cause I was looking at other companies that make them. Gonna have to look into this further if the price is right.

I'm confused, does the original Procharger set up in the C6's run off the main serpentine belt system ?

Guess I assumed all Procharger setups had their own drive belt like the F-body.

Bob,
Does the new direct drive system move the blower inboard(closer to the motor)?

more competition is always good but all this that I've been hearing about belt slip on the alternator causing lack of voltage/amps at high rpm and messing up the fuel systems makes me scared of these things.

Buddy............guys been running them for years with praise. This voltage drop thing seems to be flavor of the month for some reason.

Voltage drop is very real. I don't know anyone locally running a DD with alternator issues. Once the belt gets worn at all, it starts squealing and slipping, especially at high RPM.

I wonder how they are getting around carteks patents? The reason all the others got pulled from the market was cartek got the IP.

I wonder if Gates makes a fleet runner belt of that size. I have an 8 rib for my blown C6 and it GRIPS. If they add an extra pulley on the top side of the belt like the C5 has, they might get enough wrap on the 4 rib.

Many of them don't, such as the GM truck kits. Bob

From what I found out, it doesn't. I was told the accessories are first driven by the a/c belt, then it transfers to the rest of the accessories via an intermediate dual-rib drive pulley. Thanks. Bob

ProCharger also made sure that the accessories were given a strong OEM spring loaded tensioner. Using a spring loaded tensioner ensures that the accessories will have the proper belt pressure applied to them as the belt wears and grows over time.

Bob,
If I was going to retro fit this system into another vehicle, and I was not going to run a/c, is there another pulley I could bolt on in place of the a/c unit?

It looks like it would allow for more room for a larger blower by mounting it up high like that. I know there have been a couple guys who've mounted bigger blowers (f-series) up there.

Also because it's something different. Never hurts to have options.

Bob, is there any risk of the water pump slipping at higher engine speeds? the belt wrap around the water pump seems minimal at best.
