Default For anyone considering oil-less turbos

In short, DON'T. I purchased 2 of these turbos when they first came out for $3200. If they have more than 500 miles on them at this point, I would be shocked. I have had nothing but trouble out of them. They are on their 3rd time being sent back for a grease repack. One of my biggest problems is when I purchased these, the cost to repack the special hi-temp grease was $50 per turbo due every 10,000 miles. OK, fine, I don't drive the car that much so that's manageable. Now, they are charging over $300 to do the same damn thing! WTF? The last time I sent one in, it must have gotten too hot and there was just enough shaft play to cause the billet compressor wheel to contact the housing so that had to be replaced as well. What is bad, that was still cheaper than this most recent repack. I think they just make up prices as they go. Toe bottom line, there seems to be a fine line between "needs grease" and "you went too far". I would advise anyone looking at these turbos, to find another option. Now they do have the oil-less 2.0 version which you can grease yourself but the tube of grease is $150. They want an additional $1100 to "upgrade" mine to this new style. At that point I would have around $4500 in turbos alone. If you want to know anything else about them, shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to answer any questions.

What about converting them back to oil fed turbos? They should do that for free since they obviously are never going to hold up as they were advertised.

Front mount ? rear mount ?

Pretty sure their website used to say not to mount oilless turbos close to the engine because of the heat issues.

Although last time I looked I couldnt find it.

Sorry to hear about all your issues with them i'd be pissed as well!

I've been doing a bunch of research on them as they just came on board as a sponsor on my build (CT43 7879's) and i sure as heck hope i don't run into those issues?

Mine is a drag car so not equal comparison but do you mind showing a pic of where they are mounted if you have one thanks

Hard to imagine grease in a bearing with 80k to 100k shaft speed and red hot exhaust gasses just inches away being a good combination.
