Default Procharger head unit upgrade worth it?

Wondering if a procharger head unit upgrade is worth it....I'm trying to do 20# +. I will be doing an lsx 454 build, and right now I have a f-1a procharger. Wondering if i should leave it, upgrade to a f-1c, or step up to an f-2. Looking for 1k rwhp. Also, does upgrading the head unit allow the unit to make more boost?

Should I upgrade to F-1C or F-2 or beyond that?

is this upgrade to the f-1x going to allow the head unit to make more boost? Why an F-1X instead of an F-2?

I agree with Detoxx on the F1X blower. Here is a good read for you if you have time.

Why are you so hell bent on making 20+ psi of boost? I personally would run the bigger blower with less boost.

Both the F1X and F2 blower will get you to your HP goal. I just posted that link because there was so much back and forth debate over the two blowers.

My next question would be F-1X, F-1X-12, or F-1X-12-A?? Big price jump but that doesn't matter on my end.

Quote of the day...Quite the understatement!

Defined,

Are you chasing a dyno number or a particular ET? What you have now will have an attitude for traction.

I run a cog belt. I've had great success running it at 17 psi. I have limited time at around 26 psi and it ran good, but I started having head gasket issues. A fix is in the works and I'll be staying with the 408 and 4-bolt heads.

f1x-12 variants use f3 transmission so they will not bolt up.

Regular F1X is fine. Don't worry about boost numbers. If your setup is good it will make more power on less boost which is only a measurement of restriction anyway. 1000whp on 25psi and 1000whp on 20psi is still a 1000whp but one will exert less strain on the engine.

I've heard that the f1x is a bit finiky in that the cam has to be pretty much spot on and then you still have to spin the **** out of it to make these big power numbers, at which point reliability becomes an issue.

From my research it'll go horsepower to horsepower with an f2 but the f2 doesn't have to work anywhere near as hard. The f2 is not as peaky either, delivering more power under the curve.

For example, my 4110 lb truck trapped 152 mph at 17 lbs of boost spinning the blower only 71% of max recommended speed at 7500 engine rpm. I'm told that it would be an absolute turd with an f1x spinning 71% of max recommended speed.

I went through this whole "I really need to dump the f2 and jump on the f1x bandwagon" thing............and after talking to several people that are successful with the f1x and procharger I've decided to stay f2.

Once the f2 is not enough, there is always a morris pro-volute and internal mods, which they claim will stomp a texas sized mud hole in an f1x, modded or not.

Just my .02

The F-2 blower will be your best bet for what you are trying to do, and leave you room to grow. The F-2 is a tried and true blower and will provide you with years of service. Give me a cal and we will be happy to go over all the numbers with you and give you the info you need to fully understand where you're going with the different performance levels.
