Spark Plugs for LS1 Turbo
Hey guys,
First time posting a thread hopefully I'm doing it right. I have a ls1 motor I'm building and its my first LS1. going o run a single turbo set up. I have been told by a local tuner to run Denso Iridium IT27. Last Night picked up my LS6 intake and the guy said those are no good. You wanna run a normal plug. Let me know what you guys think. Looking to run max 20psi when needed but more of a fun street car.
Little specs. freshly built short block
gapped rings
tu1 turbo cam
arp studs
heads are all done and flowed
ls6 intake
single 76mm turbo.
thanks

This comes up a lot. Here is basically what you will here.
Tr6 for moderate boost levels, like 12psi and lower.
Br7efs from like 13-18psi
Br8efs for 19 and up.
I run the Br8efs at 20psi and 900whp. But I ran that plug even when I was at 650whp. Why not run a colder plug? Its safer and there are no negatives but maybe a tad worse mileage and shorter replacement intervals.

I'm using fic injectors
I had them resized when I went turbo
They flowed 84lbs at 43psi
Zero complaints about them so far
Lot of people have good luck with the Siemens deka 80lb injectors
They can be had for a little over 300 bucks and will support quite a bit of power

IT27 is equivalent of a NGK 9 heat range. Only a fool would suggest that for such a build.
Just use a 7 or thereabouts as suggested above, and unless the plugs are difficult yo access, cheapy coppers work just fine. For most part precious metal plugs are more about longevity than anything else. Any performance gains are small, and the LS has very power coils, so it makes little odds either way in terms of spark performance
