Default Just how wrong is this cam, turbo 6.0L

I have the opportunity to buy jtotheizzo's turbo setup off of his car. https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...-page-4-a.html

My current setup is a 6.0L LQ4, PRC 5.3L heads (60cc chambers!), FAST LSXrT intake, an NX Proton kit and a fairly large Tick Custom cam. It's a 231/235 .635/.610 112+2. I'm looking at a smaller 226 on a 115 cam, but I want to see if I can get away with not swapping the cam right away. Opinions? The turbo is a GT45 T66 and I'm looking to run 10lbs on a pump gas no meth street tune.

I'm going to run my 4.30 gears for a few months as well, which should be interesting I guess. I have a truck intake and a set of 317 heads I'm going to swap out my 5.3L heads and FAST intake for. Using those parts and my nitrous setup to fund the turbo swap over, but I'm going to be stuck with this cam and gears for a little bit.

If the engine runs and you dont want to buy/swap a cam just yet, then just use it.

You could use just about any cam if you wanted and it's clear you arent ready to swap it.

So it's a non issue, just run it.

I think I'm just using the forum as an echo chamber while I plan things out. It runs and drives great as is with only very minor annoyances since it's a daily driver. I have to pull the heads anyway...so I might as well pull the cam too and find a good trade or a used cam. Half the reason to run a turbo, in my mind, is to still make big power while running a small cam. Seems like a silly question now that I've posted.

I agree, but for now I'm going to migrate all of his parts into my car and get it working. For a daily-driver, it's going to spool super quick though. Hence my internal debate about swapping to a much smaller cam. No need to take it to 7,500rpm anymore...

Are you talking about the 76/103 GT45 they have?

How much manifold pressure are you planning on running?

I would really like to see a comp map of that set-up.

Even turning less R's, I wonder where in the efficiency range you would be. If you are getting it as a whole kit, yeah run it & see what happens. Otherwise a 74-76mm would be a better match.

10lbs. It made 600rwhp on a stock 5.3 at 17lbs. I made 550rwhp with the nitrous on my current setup. I'm just looking to make close to that with the turbo and a small cam on a 6.0L with stock 317 heads.

If your goal is around 550whp then leave it alone and run that cam. You are not asking much from a turbo ls
