Default Another turbo size advice thread. TIA

What's up everyone finally reaching out for turbo advice from the experts. Finally got the motor parts purchased and time to start deciding turbos. Quick info on the build. Weekend toy 05 gto. Just wanting a fun car at the moment not looking for a drag strip monster or anything like that. This is my first turbo build so I'm figuring it out as I go. Motor is an L33 newer gen. Keeping the stock bottom end for now. 243 heads tick stage 3 turbo cam and have all the supporting mods. Ported oil pump springs lifters and all that. Arp studs I'm currently looking to purchase and deka 80#. Ls6 manifold. Maybe a few other things but that's the basics

Turbo will be cx racing piping and intercooler. Turbosmart 38mm wastegates. Will be running e85 and maybe 9-10# max with the stock bottom. So the turbos I was going to go with were Borg Warner s366s as I'm looking for 6-700 hp area. So my question is for the guys that have done it are there any other similar sized turbos you would recommend or maybe some that aren't 600 bucks a peice haha. Any info good or bad would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

S366's is a lot of turbo for your goals. You would be fine with s360's or s475 single for a tighter budget.

I thought about going the single route but with the cx kit being so cheap and set up for twins I'll probably stick with them. I'll look into the 360 and where it maxes out. Eventually I will throw a better bottom end in it but for now just looking to have some fun with it.

With s360's you can always upgrade the compressor wheel later. I think CRT and forced induction's both do billet wheel upgrades. I heard you can go up to a 63mm with machining the housing.

There are some great turbo's out there to choose from. I think it just depends on what you want and what you like.

I think the best 3 turbo brands are Borg Warner, Precision, and Garret. Borg in my opinion is the best value. Their reliability and performance per dollar is better than any others in my opinion. That being said, they also have the biggest turbo housings taking up more space than the others. I know this gave me a hard time cramming my giant S484 under my hood. But if size isn't a problem, Borg is the best in my opinion.

Precision and Garret are both very very good also. There are others like Turbonetics and On3 that are also popular, just seems like they are not used as much as the others. (I will add that I have heard of On3 turbos are pretty cheap but not of good quality).

Yeah the cx kit has an option for turbos and wastegates and there's only a 400 dollar addition to add 2 turbos and 2 wastegates. Makes me frightened of the quality considering the turbos I was looking at are 3 times that for just turbos. I think I'm going to go with the Borg twins for my setup. Space isn't a huge battery has already been moved to the back so I have room to play. It's funny that you read it all the time about doing your own kit how much it adds up. But like most people say I only want to do it once and right not be replacing parts because I skimped on quality in the first place
