Default E85 or c16

I'm debating which fuel I should run for the track next year and I'm looking for some real life experience with both. I ran e85 full time in the car last year and it was a pain in the *** for cruising the town because I used so much and there's no station close to me with it. I wasted a set of injectors also when the car sat for a few weeks without running as well. I am however planning on running pump gas for the street next season. My new combo will be capable of 1500+ to the wheels. Not sure if I'll have enough fuel pump with e85 for that and I'm not sure how far you can go with it. Looking for suggestions please

Why not go/stay E-85 and have flex fuel? Then when you're not near an E station you can run pump and the tune will compensate for it? As for how far you can go with E-85, I know some guys local that are making a lot more than 1500 whp on it.

sub'd. especially if you are using a methanol kit to make sure IATs are very low either way I"m curious what the recom here is for >1k hp setups. I don't have e85 convenient in my area so would have to go with big barrels of fuel either way.

i made an easy 1200 on e85 so over 1k is very safe. think I was at 20 degrees of timing at 23 psi. the flex fuel sensor sounds like a big expense and pita. id just drain the tank and put pump in when im street driving. i already have an easy way to jump my pumps and a drain figured out. i also would want straight e85 when at the track.

Depending on what ECU you have, it's not that difficult and the flex sensor itself is like $50. I have it setup on my car with the Holley Dominator and gm flex sensor in the return line.

What kind of mileage were you getting with corn? I drove around often and my mileage actually was pretty good considering. Also i switched to c16 after running out of pump and lost 3mph in the 1/8 with more boost and 4* more timing. Got a larger pump went back to e85 and all is well.

You'll need a GM flex fuel sensor to go in the return line. The sensor needs 12v, ground, and an output to the Holley. Then in the Holley, you'll need to pin map and setup your 1D tables to change your fuel % based on E content and add timing again based on E content. Check out the PDF from Holley for the V4 update (I think the flex fuel stuff starts on page 25). http://documents.holley.com/techlibr...0_overview.pdf

Milage on e85 was awful, my gas tune has roughly 40% less usage. I'm really just trying to decide for the track, I'm going to run c16 or e85 straight for racing, don't want to mix at the track

With the flex fuel sensor installed, you can actually look at the Holley and see the percentage of E in the fuel.

You have a part number for the sensor I would need?

this seems like basically says it all? if max power the goal then e85 > c16?

I'm just trying to get people's opinions, I'm not worried about max power because I can always add more boost. I am curious as to the safe limits of e85. I don't like how fast it goes bad and how much you use for sure. I may run out of injector and pumps with my new setup

Im lucky to get over 5 mpg on e85 lol. I drive about a 60 mile round trip to the track and make 5-6 passes. I have about 1/4 tank when I get home. Luckily I have no problems with it but I do start the car up every few weeks.

What size fuel cell do you have? Have you ever checked fuel mileage without making passes.

I have the stock fbody fuel tank which is around 15 gallons. I've cruised around without making passes and it's not pretty. I tune to about 15 AFR and 40 degrees of timing while cruising too. 3.90s and a th400 certainly do not help.

I have a continental flex sensor with -6 adapters and harness I just took off my car. Has 250 miles on it. Decided to mix fuel in the garage instead of using the sensor in ca

What's the cost of e85/mileage versus the cost of race fuel and driving?

I also mix down to e65 in my car and race on that

1.95 vs 10-12 per gallon.
