6 quarts with the tall (NAPA)1522 oil filter. Oil level is just on top of the full line. F-body oil pan by the way.

6qts here on stock ls1 pan and block. Ran the car hard for 4 years before having the motor taken apart and refreshed. Engine builder said my bearings looked great. Car cuts consistent 1.2 60's and gets some air.

Tall truck filter and 7 qts. I'm adding an improved racing baffle this year to try and help oil starvation.

I use the large filter and probably closer to 7 than 6 as well.

As many as it takes... If you see your oil pressure drop at the launch add another quart. I've run as much as 8qts on a factory LS1 oil filter to stop the oil oil pickup from uncovering on the launch.

With the engine running I added oil until it started to trickle out of my oil pans turbo drain. At 8qts in the pan... it just started trickling out of my lower turbo drain pictured here.

Here is 6qts in the pan. When you include the filter and a running engine... the level drops a good 2-3 qts.

I've got a CTS-V pan. It calls for 5.5 qts. I run 7 qts to avoid aeration/cavitation plus to make up for the oil the turbo takes up.

I put 6 in it and some in the filter. It's a new gm performance pan, so threads are newer style. I used to get the taller filters for my wife's daily. Did they make a taller filter for the pf48style threads?
