Oil return for Turbo
I am building a turbo kit on a LS1 and was wondering where you guys put your oil return line. I was thinking of just drilling the front of the oil pan.

I bought a scavenge pump from princess auto (12V 7gpm oil pump), it worked fine but just for fun i connected a hydraulic pump up running off the crank pulley.
i wired in a relay to the fuel pump, so it would prime the turbo before startup.
Other people use the Weldon 9200 (same as differential pump off new vette??, do a seach you will find a GM PN#).
Both worked, I made the hydraulic pump because I thought I wasn't get rid of the oil fast enough (smoke out of exhaust), turns out I was just supplying it to much oil pressure, so I added a 0.080" restrictor.

When I got my Canton pan, I had them add two 1/2" NPT bungs at the front of the pan:
You must put any holes above the oil sump level. If I had a choice, I would put it behind the windage screen, if you're running one.

A popular scavenge pump is the weldon 9200 - used used to move differential fluid around a lot. Its not cheap at $400 but its rock solid.
If you use a scavenge pump you can push the oil back in through the oil level sensor passenger side of the oil pan. No drilling required. I had my Incon kit setup that way. If you are doing gravity drain then you want to tap into the front of the oil pan for the return above the liquid level.

but you need an oil supply like 3-4an coming from a pressure source, like the little fitting above the oil filter.
then you need a oil drain big like a 8-10an returning to the top portion of your oil pan. You DO NOT want a restrictor on the return, you want this to return as free as possible, good big oil hose.
synthetics do well in turbo vehicles.

Wheel-2-Wheel makes a nice aluminum piece for turbo oil supply, it also has a -10 feed and return for running the oil through an oil cooler. A little pricey, but a nice piece...

For return I have welded 2 -10AN fittings on my oil pan and drilled holes accordingly
