Default 10# of boost safe on10.9:1 engine??

just as the thread name says, is 10 pounds of boost safe on my 10.9:1 compression engine? has a forged bottom end and is making about 420 rwhp right now. 238/232 cam and 1.5 stage ported heads.

my bottom end is forged for the power and survival of the pistons but would detenation be a big concern>>? or with a good tune is it doable?

I would say no.But not impossible would have a lot to do with how well it was tuned and how much total timing that you will be able to run. Also has alot to do with weather conditions because it will run hotter in the summer which would even make it even tougher.

You should sell the heads you have, and get some stock or ported 6.0 L heads and then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Question

What is the cubic inch of your engine? If it is higher than a 346, you may not be able to get much more than 7 psi out of the P-1SC anyway, depending on the cam profile and cubic inch of your engine. You may also have the smaller 3.5" thick twin high flow intercoolers, which won't be as effective at cooler the compressed air as the newer 4.5" twin high flow intercoolers. You could also go with a large front mount intercooler, which would be less expensive than upgrading to the 4.5" twin high flow intercoolers, and will do a great job at keeping the air cool. Keeping the air cool is one of the keys to how much boost you're going to be able to run. Bob
