Default 232/234 bad cam for FI?

I was thinking of buying myself some sort of supercharger as an early birthday present. I've always had naturally aspirated cars, and now I want something different. I just finished a heads/cam swap, and while I'm very happy with the results, the mod bug came back alot sooner than expected and bit me pretty hard. I installed the the TSP torquer 2 cam in my car, 232/234 .595.598 112, and I was wondering if that was a bad choice of cam for a boosted application. I intended to stay NA when I picked it, but as I said plans changed when I was done. Should I be swapping to something smaller, or will I be ok with this cam?

Not optimal obviously, but It will work I have seen some running the GM hot cam and it is on a 110 if I am not mistaken. If you aren't plauged by money troubles I would at least try to pick up a cam on a 114 or higher and 4-6 degree split is recomended although I know of lots of people making great power on 220/220 cams. Kinda your call. I ran a 224/230 114 of my own picking.

If it was on a 114lsa or 115 then i would say go for it. Although it will work it is FAR FROM perfect, etc, and since your going f/i now may as well get it right the first time and run something like a 224/230 or 226/232, both on a 114 lsa (+0 advance) with around .580 lift or so!!

This would be 100% better than what you have planned and just sell it and get the right cam and in the long run there will be no second guessing and !

I'm making 14psi of boost on my hotcam.. 218/227 .525 .525 112LSA.. Yes your cam choice is not the absolute best choice. However, you'll be supprised how well you will do!! If you have money short a little, run that cam, it will provide you with a lot of mid range torque.

Good luck.

The money isn't really an issue, alot of it is the pain in the *** factor. Aside from rebuilding my rear and and transmission (DriveLine Solutions and D&D did that) I have done everything on my car myself. I''ve owned several F-bodies, and I'd rather do 3 cam swaps in a Camaro than 1 cam swap in a C5 any day. Plus, I love the lope of a larger cam and I don't really want to lose that. Am I sacrificing anything other than power? I understand that with the larger exhaust duration I am essentially blowing some of the boost out of the exhaust, but can't I just pop a smaller pulley on to make up for it? I'm not looking for anything insane, 5-7 psi max.

I'm running a 230/236 112LSA solid roller on my blown 383 and it runs great! People put too much emphasis on LSA, IMHO. As long as you're not running a real tight LSA or a lot of overlap, you'll be fine. Run it until you're familiar enough and have enough miles to warrant a change.
