Default Turbo Lag Problem STS

Ok guys please no flamin
I went out to the 1/8 mile track tonight and this is the first time I have ever had this problem. Earlier this week I upgraded my turbo from the STS basic kit of a T-60/.81AR to a T-70/.96AR and well when the boost kicks in it hits hard and feels a whole lot stronger. But my problem is I dont even hit boost till right before I shift or am already in second gear. I dont understand how it has become so laggy, there are plenty of people running a t-70 like this with the sts kit. One other thing is I have a 13 pound spring in my wastegate but I am only seeing 10 pounds of boost at the gauge, that is all that I was seeing with the T-60 and the reason I switched is because I thought the 60 was too small.

my list of mods are
fuddle 4000 stall
forged motor with 317 heads and 8.9:1 CR
FMIC TRT Turbo
Meth Injection STS kit
#60 mototron injectors
Fuel Pump
Nelson performance tune
Shift Kit

The best I could get it to run was 7.6 @ 96MPH
I did that way back when I had a stock motor and #8

Please any thoughts on this will greatly help

Do you have a 2 step to lauch? Maybe raise the RPMs on your shift points.

Bring the A/R down, a .96 is not needed for what you are doing, also what turbine wheel is the 70??

I do not have a 2-step but I really want one I think Harlen or what ever his name is, is almost done with new ones hes coming out with. Is there another brand that will work for our cars?

The stall was what Fuddle wanted me to go with, after he looked at my dino sheet with the T-60 I am sure the dino curve has changed. So I might need to contact him again.

As for the A/R what do you think I need to go with? I know when you upgrade to the t67 or t70 from sts it comes with the bigger A/R. Do you think I can use my .81 on this?

crap you know what now that I got some sleep I cant remember if it was a .86 and I went to a .91 or .81 and went to a .96 I will check on that

thanks for the input

If the turbos are p-trim units then they are interchangeable on the housing side. Knowing STS, more then likely they are. Jose and Jason rebuild quite a few of them.

The A/R is too big for your setup.

Might also check for exhaust leaks.

That's what I was thinking. A little (and I mean little) leak will bleed off a lb or so of boost and cause increased lag time. I had that problem once myself.

Stall sounds WAAAAY too big, as does the a/r on your turbo. I'd suggest going with something like a 2800 stall and a .68 a/r, at least if you like having a fun car to drive on the street.

I'm running a .70 a/r on my R trim T76. My stall is way too loose and my 3.5 is too much gear for what my plans are for the car. I'm changing my stall so it's 800-1000 rpms tighter and my gears to 2.75's. PI rated my current stall at 3000 rpms. Under medium throttle it goes against the converter around 3500, at 0 psi around 4200 on the flash and at 10 psi around 5500 on the flash.

Thanks guys I am going to swap out the A/R as soon as I can and go back to the .81 and see what that gets me.
