Larger Air Filter for procharger setup
I am trying to order some parts from Summit and want to replace my stock sized K$N air filter with something larger. I know others have done this in the past but I'm having trouble finding old threads with a K&N part number of what I can get in there without any serious headache.
Can anyone help me out with a K&N part number for the larger procharger filter.
Also I need to replace my polugs and was looking to go from a TR6 to the NGK-4554(heat range 8). I read a thread on here about how much better these 4554s are to the TR6s. I was wondering if anyone else was running them and their thoughts on them. Will going from a 6 heat range to an 8 give me any problems? Is it just an all around better plug? Your input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

filter
Same here RF1004, went right off the inlet hat with it. It has a bolt on the end and I attached it to the edge of my front clip where the bolts go for the ati cover plates. Just had to cut it to an L shape, and drill a hole and use a exhaust hanger that I cut off. A little low but solid. I had no choice as my intercooler tubing is in the way of using the stock ati location, plus up there it just bangs around till the filter is dented and or eventually worn through.

K&N part number RE-0870
We deleted the ATI ProCharger plastic air inlet hat, and installed an aluminum 4.00" 90 degree elbow. We added a larger 9.00" long K&N filter to the 4.00 elbow, K&N part number RE-0870. Our testing has seen an increase of 2 pounds of boost just by swapping out the ATI supplied inlet hat and filter for the parts we installed here. We have also noticed that belt slippage problems we have had in the past in the 14 psi range with the stock 8 rib combination are eliminated with the new inlet combination. Bob

The stock ATI filter and rubber hose is pretty small plus my filter is 12" long. I also use another small breather filter on the 1.5" hole in the bottom and that helps some. Without the filter/hat on the car I am also sucking hot air from the radiator which doesnt happen with the hat or elbow on. Bob's setup there looks pretty good and is a good bit better then the stock ATI setup, plus you dont have to hunt for the parts if he is selling it as a kit

Do any of you guys using the RF1004 or the RE0870 have the stock twin ICs? I perhaps should have mentioned that in my initial post, but whatever larger filter i use has to fit atop the stock IC. Would either of these filters work for that or are they too big?
Thanks guys,
Mike

Meanwhile I may go find a RF1004 and one of the little breather filters.

I assume you are running the stock radiator Bob. How tight is the elbow vs the rad? I want one, but with my 2" Be-Cool, I'm not sure it will fit. I see you had to notch the corner of the support, I do NOT want to have to move the support forward.
PS you should include the little K&N filter for the bypass valve in your kit too, since most people still run the stock config.
