Default Custom turbo cam specs...how's this look?

Ok I finally decided to just order a cutom cam. This is going in a 346ci LS1 with a T76 turbo, custom front mount using truck manifolds.

Specs: 228/224 .588/.581 on a 114LSA

From what I've read, I think the reverse split will work out well with the manifold design. Any comments?

That is about what i would get if I had to pick a turbo cam. I am very curious to see how yours does, as I plan to get a truck manifold kit next spring.

Right on man! Glad to see you're sticking with the turbo crowd If I ever get this project completed I'll post up my dyno results.

I plan to stick with the turbo crowd for now. However, a friend may be selling his 422 shortblock next year. It is a very tempting item.

Plan now though is to stay turbo.

Back on topic, please do post up some dyno results. You have a forged 346? What compression and heads are you going with?

I wish it was a forged shorty...right now I'm more worried about getting the kit together. And since its a 98 block I decided against honing it and rebuilding it. I'll most likely pick up a new iron block and re-use the stock crank for next year. Right now I'm using 317 heads with a competition valve job and ported bowls and ARP head studs. I also put LPE rod bolts in for a little added insurance.

I'll be sure to post up some numbers once I'm done. I'm hoping that the ported 317's and custom cam will make some decent power at low boost. We shall see...

Should be fun. I think reverse patterns are a little overrated but it won't hurt you any. Where you located?

JPH: I haven't thought about that yet...I suppose straight up would work fine. Maybe +2?

PSJ: Yeah I haven't really seen any concrete proof with the reverse split vs. single pattern, but from what I've read it makes enough sense to try out. I was originally gunna go with a 224/224 .581/588 114 but after I pulled it out of the used shortblock I found out it was trashed. I'm located on the south side, Oak Lawn/Mt. Greenwood area.

That cam is very similar to the specs I used in my twin turbo GTO. Reverse split works very well for turbo apps.

I decided to run the Speed Inc TU1 225 225 .581 .581 113 .

I am running a 370 cube engine and figure if they can make 908Hp with a 370, T76, and that cam, then I should be able to put down decent numbers.

I think that's an understatement. I had no luck with a 226/226, slightly better with a 230/230, but my 224/236 seems to work the best. If I get another one, it will be 230/236.
