Default another is this a good turbo cam thread?

i've contacted a sponsor or two and none of them would give me any recommendations untill i paid for a cam upfront.

i have access to this cam cheap, it was in a buddy turbo trailblazer that made 585HP through an auto, 16 degrees and 9lbs of boost

any thoughts?

when it comes to turbo cam applications, i have no clue what to look for other then a higher lsa.

226/232 569/574 114+2

setup will be a 414ci, GT47-88, 8:1 compression

A split pattern cam like that isn't the norm. Look for a single pattern or reverse (232/228). From what I've read the LSA isn't a big deal, but anything 114 or above should be fine. Also check out some of the sponsor sites and analyze their turbo cam specs.

That cam will be fine. Mine is 224/236-114 and it works nicely. I always wanted to try a 230/236-114 though. I think it would work better.

Are you trying to save money? What does he want for the cam? How much is a new cam from the places you called? What is your HP or ET goal?

nope not trying to save money. I want the right cam for my combo.

my goal for HP is to be at 900-1000HP on high boost, probably 20-24lbs
nothing too crazy for ET. i hope to run low 9's.

I dont expect the cam to drive like stock. the car will be on a 3 bar SD tune.

Static compression will be 8:1. I will be using 72cc heads (6.0 heads), stock thinckness gaskets ( i believe those are .055) and the the appropiate dished pistons.( i believe -15cc, maybe a little more)

Bore will be 4.060 and stroke will be 4.00.

carb style intake, 90mm TB

Jim from Speed Inc. spec'd my cam this time around. It's something like a 234/234//114. It's lopey and the car made 867rwhp on 24psi with everything you mentioned except with an LS2 intake and a 348ci engine.

So to be honest, that cam you mentioned would probably be fine. Maybe you should order the cam from him.

hmm. more then likely i will. by your sig our setups will be very close, other then the cubes.

i've contacted Jon from Speed Inc, but he's the one who told me that i'd have to pay before speaking to Jim about specs.

not bashing them, i understand the reasoning.
