Default F/I experts, for D1SC blown 346 LS6, go with 225 or 205 LQ9 72cc Patriot Blower heads

Thinking of buying new Patriot 72cc LQ9 Blower heads to knock the compression down a point or so on my D1SC blown stock LS6 motor that will be seeing 10 to 11lbs of boost.

Several tuners have told me that to take advantage of the blower they would go with the better flowing Stage III 225 LQ9 heads even on my stock motor, due to the fact that my stock motor is blown (when typically the Stage III are only used on larger displacement LS1/6 Motors.

Do you agree this is the better route to go, or do you recommend sticking with the stage II 205 LQ9 72cc heads, given the fact I/m running stock cubes, but will be runnning 10 to 11 lbs of boost?

Please let me know the reason for your choice 205 vs 225 72 cc LQ9 Blower Heads for my application in my Z06 that is a street car that see a few non-timed road race sessions a year?

Thank you!

for d1sc opinions, is there anyone better to ask than KP? He should change his name to KatiP I say the 205s for off boost throttle response on a daily driver unless you intend to max out the d1sc in the end

The Stage 3 heads would give you a little more top end power, but at the expense of making the midrange power soggy. If you were strictly after top end power, then I would go with the Stage 3 heads. The Stage 2 heads will make the car feel more powerful. Gunnar at Patriot will back this up. Bob

I dunno, i can drive my car around everywhere and dont see any lack of torque with the 230cc (as measured) runners that these darts have. Its not like these are lawn mower engines and it will slow down when you hit the tall grass. If you want the most power get the bigger heads, simple as that. I have yet to say to myself when driving, 'wow this thing is down on torque.'

Well 8.2:1 compression and a 2400 converter in a 3900lb car will feel sluggish with 150cc runners I bet I find it hard to believe anyone could 'feel' the difference between 200cc and 225cc runners on a halfway decent tuned, properly geared setup although you can have extremes either way and it feel pretty lazy..

I bet part of the reason your car felt sluggish is those turbine wheels Jerry.

Guys, can we kindly keep this on topic as I need to decide what LQ9 72 cc heads to buy for my D1SC blown stock cubed LS6 motor (225 vs 205 intake runners).

I Appreciate it!

Stage 2 for a 346, which is what we used on this C5 making 740 rwhp.

IMO you may be entering dangerous waters. Why consider a high end head with the power your putting down now on a stock bottom end. Your over the limits of the stock bottom end in many opions. Its one thing if something happened and you trashed a basic LQ9 head its another thing if you lose a set of ported 225`s. I have read of tuners that do not recommend heads and cam along with the amount of boost your pushing on the stock bottom end. Just something to consider. Good Luck.

Read Pro Stock John's post above... The poster has sold his FI setup and is going big-inch NA...

Not to high-jack this thread... but I probably will use the Patriot LQ9 heads for my forged 383 build... planning on about 6-8#s of boost....
