Default Launching a turbo car

Well my car will be done tommrow and I wanted to get some tips for when I do some tests friday.

I have a 2step and its set to 3500rpms T76 Turbo

Is there anything I want to look out for any tips? this is my first turbo car every. With a exp driver it should be a low 10 high 9 car in the 1/4.

Fastest I have ever been down a track was 13's in my mustang

Let me know any tips and I am willing to listen.

i would up the 2 step. 3500 seems a lil low to me. depending on tires, make sure they spin a little bit so you dont bog.

The only advice I could give you is make sure to warm the tires up good and just fiddle with the 2 step. If you don't hook at 3500 drop it and if it hooks good try to raise it a little and do a comparision. Good Luck.

BTW what A/R are you running on the compressor side?

Yup but with full Pedders drag springs. Main isssues with the GTO's are wheel hop that pretty much takes it out.

Here is how I launched mine when I first made passes... it was the wrong way.

I had my 2step at 3500. I have the 2step wired to the trans break, so I would stage and then engage the 2step, and bring up the motor. In my car I can have it floored and it takes like 2 seconds or more for it to come up and start stuttering. I was letting go the brake and launching. Afterward I found out from the gurus on here that I did not build boost, and needed to watch the boost gauge. So the lesson for me was just because the revs were up did not mean I was boostin. So when I launched the car nosed over and then took off about seven cars out... resulted in me running 9.8@141.

So make sure you are seeing boost. When I practiced later I was seeing 10psi on the street. And when I released the brake the car launched hard and I let out a big YAHOO.

Do you have a transbrake and a 2step? Big difference if you only are using a 2step.

If you're used to 13's I would start the 2step down low until you get used to the car launching....crap happens real quick in a 9 second car.

If you're using the 2step and a tb, set the 2step to 2500rpm and make a run....then start upping the 2step to meet you goals.

If you're using a 2step by itself, start at 2000 rpm and move up 100rpm at a time until it pushes you through the footbrake.

Good luck!

As stated above you may want to up the boost in steps. Going from 13 sec to 10s will get scary real fast and its hard to react when your not used to the power increase. I went from a 14 sec to low 11 sec truck in steps just for that reason. Good luck.
