Question need to find 3tenths in the quarter.....

I cannot drive, hence my name

I am so close to dippin in the 10's, but just cannot seem to drive the car there...

I can consistantly pull 1.8's, but rarely get anything below that (my best run was on a 1.69 60', 11.1 @ 128)

The motor is stock with only long tubes and the procharger on there. I currently have a 3.85 pulley and my rev limiter was set to 6k to keep it safe... I had a bunch of fuel issues but have since resolved them.

So, now i am looking for just a little more power to get me into the 10's while still keeping the motor togethor. I daily drive the car and it has 48k boosted miles on it... So it has been holding togethor nicely and need it to for just a bit longer -hence the safe tune....

What are my options (think safe )? Was thinking throwing some meth on there and leaving the limiter set to 6k, not sure if this will give me enough... or just upping the limiter to 6500 and see where that put's me (think it would be around 10.5-11lbs of boost)

Thanks in advance...

I would look at a valvespring upgrade to 918's minimum under boost. You might be losing some power to valve float with the stock springs

Meth is a good idea and will likely help as well. Those two should get you close with the limiter still at 6000rpm. If you do the springs and meth you could then safely up the limiter to 6300 and shift a couple hundred rpm higher. That'll definitely do the trick

maybe an gt2-3 cam from lingenfelter, g5xb from lg, or simply an ls6 cam plus 918s as listed above. That should do the trick as a nice blower cam should net you some extra power. Meth would be good too if you up the boost or simply want added safety against detonation.

Your thought on methanol injection is a good one, since it's not crazy expensive or complicated to install... throw it on and retune without pushing your timing much and you've basically made your stock motor a bit happier. See what kind of power you can gain. Then there's also the option to retune and add a bit of timing to try to push things a bit...

I vote on his idea the best. throw the meth in there because it is rather easy from what i understand to install and make the motor last a little bit longer and gain some decent power

I say ls6 cam, 918 springs and spin that sucker to 6500(new tune of course).

I did put 918's on in the fall, stock springs had 65k on them... (will change my sig)

I am running BFG drag radials (not the KDW's), 275 45 17's (think i need wider one's)

Also running the stock 3.42's... I am bouncing off the limiter in 4th just after the trap's...

The meth would be the easiest, just thinking i will use a crap load of it since i drive the car every day and get on it pretty regularly... Not really a con, just need to keep an eye on it...

I have thought about a cam, just thinking this motor may be on it's way out and did not want to really rip into it until it goes kaboom... (Knock on wood) I hear the LS6 cam and even the LS7 cam has some good results with FI.. Also heard some good things about the ECS Blower cam as well.

What about the different meth kits.... My buddy keeps talking about this mr Freeze kit that doesnt need a pump or any electronics... but alot of folks use pumps, why?

I appreciate all your input on this... Not really looking to get deep in the 10's, just wanted to get a 10.9 timeslip No cage, so getting kicked out of the track is getting old quick... That is why i want to get a little more umph to make up for my driving errors

A good pair of front skinneys is worth 2 tenths. I saw a zo6 pull the left front a foot and a half high on short sidewall bfg drag radials.

Alkycontrol, done. I wouldn't go cheap on a methanol kit and it's not THAT expensive to do it right. This kit gives you great flexibility on the setup.

Set of CCW ET streets/skinneys, 6500rpm and some 100 unleaded is what I would do. Or just hit a good track on a 40 degree day

I should mention that i want to do this in full street trim (with the exception of drag radials).. Since i am not putting a cage in the car, i do not want to invest in a drag setup (skinnes, etc..)

I tried hitting the track on a cold day (52) and all i did was spin, could not hook off the line, but did get .5 better MPH.

11.50 is when you need a roll bar so you are already past that. If you dont put good tires on then you need more power - simple as that.

Cheapest thing to do would probably be upgrade springs and retune for higher rpm....

but depends on how deep you wanna go, meth kit, springs, tune, cam, all can be done pretty cheap assuming you do your own work (I cant do my own work so I cant give you any accurate input, lol).

get a nice mickey thompson radial and cut a low 1.6 and there's your 3 tenths right there.

you have the power just focus on hooking it.
