Default LT1 t-trim question

Im finishing up building a .060 lt1 with cp blower pistons, forged internals, blower cam, trickflow heads and a vortech v1-ttrim. Im missing pieces to the aftercooler. Would i be ok to pulley the kit as large as possible and run it with low boost until i get the pasts for the aftercooler??

Yes, because you can even regulate it further with your foot - keep it out of boost completely since you don't know the line between safety and motor death.

If you can put good gas (100+) and a pulley to keep it under 6# boost and listen for knock, you should be fine.

I've run as much as 14 psi from a T-trim on a 355 LT1 at 9/1 and no intercooler. Tune it right and it'll live. I definitely had to run alot of timing retard, though, to keep it outta' detonation. It would pick up 50+ hp when I ran race gas and cranked the timing up...

ok well that makes me feel a little better... as soon as i get the watercooler and tank ill be installing the aftercooler. I just am ready to put the motor in and drive it with the new setup. So if i use the stock crank pulley size that came with the kit and a 3.3 sc pulley what sort of boost would i be looking at?

If it has the 6.66" crank pulley, it would probably be around 7-8 psi. If it's the 6" crank pulley, you're looking at only 5-6 psi. If the compression is low (<9/1), then you have nothing to worry about.

yeah i believe its right around 8.9:1. And it is the 6.66 crank pulley.

At 8 psi and 9/1, I wouldn't bother with the aftercooler.

just out of curiosity, with this setup: .060 over lt1 with cp blower pistons, forged internals, blower cam, trickflow race ported heads and a vortech v1-ttrim, what kind of power do you guesstimate? Not looking for actualy numbers, just ballpark adding boost soon

One rule of thumb is that 15psi doubles engine horsepower. So if you make 375rwhp at the motor, you could hit 750rwhp at 15psi. Now blower setups use up more power, and your numbers can be even lower if you run a T400... So figure close to 700rwhp for 15psi, and figure 600rwhp with a T400. So 625rwhp for 10psi figuring no loss.

I really think the T-trim will have trouble getting there with the TH400. I had a T-trim at near-max speed (6.66/2.75, for 13 psi) and made only 550 rwhp through a TH350. This was on a 383, AFR 210's, 224/236 cam.

However, with an auto, my 550 rwhp was good for 10.40 at 133 at full weight.

A T-trim on a 396 should be capable of 9's if set up right. My T-trim/383 only went 10.40 but there was some room for improvement. Also, LJ went 9.9 with an S-trim on a 383.

well im not that high in cubic inch, i have a .060 over 350. So 366 or whatever that would be. But ive seen 355 with just awesome times and power with FI.
