Default supercharger install

I am getting my vortech v9 aftercooled installed shortly on my car. It will have the new injectors, fuel pump, triple pod, wideband, fuel pressure, and boost. I was quoted $1,100 for the complete install. I think that this sounds like a pretty good deal what do you all think?

$1,100 is a lot of mod money... If you are able to turn a wrench I would do it myself... I installed mine in a parking lot in my apartment...

I was going to say the same thing. Put in some time and you would have that install money to use on your next mod or to fix something when it breaks. It saves a lot of money learning to be handy with a wrench.

its a pretty simple bolt on kit...just take your time and follow instructions and it can be done with simple hand tools.
so im with the previous 3 gentleman...use that money on something else...like tires cause your gonna need them..

I agree with everyone here. If you are a little mechanically inclined and have even done a couple of bolt on mods, you can most likely do the install. The directions on the kits are pretty good now a days, so just take your time. If you get stuck, this forum is a great placed for help. Besides saving a few bucks, you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

"you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself"

That's another great reason I forgot to mention. Plus when people see it and are impressed they usually will ask questions. If you do it yourself, you won't sound like an idiot trying to explain things that you don't understand.

Also, if anything ever breaks then you have a really good understanding of how it works...That always helps with trouble shooting... Also, if you're not running a forged bottom end this could help out A LOT... Rods are $300-$600 and pistons are $500-$700... Then you just have some odd and ends and then you'll be ready to turn the wick up a little.... Good luck regardless and I hope that you make the "right" decision for you

Everybody's comments are appreciated. Unfortunately I think I will have to have it installed by someone else. I have done things in the past on my car, but in between work and college these days don't have a lot of extra time. Especially considering that this is my dd and don't have the down time to take my time and do it myself.

I think the price is very fair. The Vortech takes a lot longer than the ATI because of additional work to wire + install the parts for the air water system + wire & plumb that nasty loud T-rex fuel pump, tap oil pan etc. I recommend pinning the crank.

Alright thanks that was the kind of answer I was looking for. I would love to do the install myself but as said previously I just don't have the time right now.
