Default Any aftermarket pick up tubes available?

Are there any pick up tubes that maybe pick up from further back in the pan? Before my block cracked back in March, I was having to run 8 qts to kkeep oil pressure at WOT.... It was making probably ~100 rwhp more then previously... in which I ran 6 qts in with no problem.

Now I will be making more... and I rather change the pick up or modify it if I have to while the motor is open. Anything out there available?

the moroso is a nice piece, it moves the pickup all the way in the back of the pan...

you guys are talking race car stuff.. why is there a problem with 6 qts stock pan and pickup? ive never noticed these probmes but my pushrods do have smaller orifices than stock so it doesnt over oil the top.

I am going to be running a high volume melling pump. My engine builder said if I wanted extra oil cap and a oil cooler the moroso oil pan would be the way to go. I trust LME knows what they are talking about and its just $ I dont think the moroso oil pan is race car stuff I would say it's no different than having a deep transmission pan or a 4l80 in your car And get it from Speed Inc

I had to run more oil because under WOT acceleration up in the RPMs (>4000), my oil pressure started dropping. Added 1 more quart and it went away and all was perfect.

What you really need to do is baffle the pan better. Oil is climbing the rear of the block on accel and uncovering the stock pickup. We saw this constantly on one car, I could time the trans brake launch by the sudden drop in oil pressure.

What amount of oil presure are you running under WOT? What il are you running? These are the problems I addressed from previous setups in my current TT set up. I just did a new pump (Home ported) and I didn't shim it much at all almost stock etc... I am running the Smith Bros push rods also to try and keep some of the oil from going up top. I am not haveing any oil related issues currently. I idle at 45-50 when hot and under wot it still will peg the gauge and I was running 5w30 for break in and after that a 10w30. Too thick of an oil can cause multiple problems one of being not returning to the pan fast enough. I know I am not talking to beginers so just reminding you of a few things and talking to Kurt is alway a good thing IMO when having a specific question he is super nice and will help you if he can very knowledgeable as you all know. I kept it simple GM spent a lot of time on there design and it works just fine with a few tweaks. Make sure to check you pick up clearance LOL! I don't think his street car is seeing the trans brake launches is that the only time you guys were seeing it. Well that is unless Tiago is changing what he is doing with the car etc... Good luck!

I dint have any problems off the line even with 1.25 60 foots but I do run out of oil at the end of every 1/4 mile pass usually. Even with an extra quart, not sure exactly what its hurting since I havent had the pan off in 1.5 years and several hundred passes. Never got around to doing the restricted pushrods but thats a good idea to keep the oil in the pan.

Moroso pan looks nice but its pricey and I'm not big on relocateing the oil filter, just one of those things that if you need its worth it I suppose.

The moroso pan is expensive, but Im sure it would do the job, I will look into modifing the stock pick up and/or the baffling in the pan to help the situation.

My oil filter is already relocated along with a nice cooler... so 8 qts wasn't 8 qts sitting in the pan, Im sure I had 1 qt in the lines/cooler at least.

thanks,

sounds like it is important to differentiate oil pressure at take off vs. end of track, similar symptom but two diff. causes

good thread.

My oil pressure gauge was running inverse to my boost gauge lol....

At 9 lbs of boost it held pressure, but at 18 lbs it would drop. Added another qt of oil and it held pressure fine... damn G forces
