Default question about smoking turbo

well i just put in a new built up tranny and stall, and have been putting in some test WOT runs today. after a couple runs this afternoon, i pulled into my driveway to let her idle and cool down the oil, and i noticed that a small amount of smoke was coming out of the exhaust side of the turbo. this was while idling, and the smoke was very little, like small puffs from a cig. it eventually went away after a few mins of idling.... now the question is, does this mean that i need an oil restrictor?

i have the f7 oil restrictor piece ready to go if that is the case. would it be bad to be driving with it smoking like that? thanks!

heres a video for fun http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r...t=88a2ecaa.flv

You def. might need an oil restricter, or you might have a SMALL oil seal leak in the turbo!

I would try the restricter first... Just make sure its not too much of a restriction!

I watched the video expecting some smoke...

Where exactly is it coming out? Try the restricter, because I know you have a good CV now.

as for the oil, it only smokes when i run the car hard, and come to a stop to let her idle. it trickles out like incense from the oil feed/return section on the exhaust side of the turbo.

Try the restrictor first, should help. If not, it could also be the chevk valve in your feed line gone bad so it could be letting the feed line drain all the oil into the turbo when the cars shut off, so you get that little bit of seepage. Im guessing a restrictor will help it though!

Is your function 7 piece the one with the .060 standard hole or the bigger one? Just curious. I doubt it would be your CV after having replaced it so many times.

I would be surprised to hear another one gone bad. I just got my car back up and running and the CV is over 2 years old and not a single drip or puff of smoke.

Yea, i doubt its the check valve as well, due to it being under hard acceleration. It is dripped with the car shut off then that may be the culprit, but i think he just needed a restrictor, more rpms, higher oil press, pushing threw the seals a tad.

well i dont think it is the check valve, as i havent had any pooling overnight. and it only smokes on the exhaust side after running it hard a few times. I am thinking the restrictor will help with the problem. I have the f7 piece that comes with the .060 size, so i'm probably gonna have to make it a lil bigger.
