Default What head Gaskets for TT 346?

Ok I think I need the GM MLS 6.0L gaskets but before I order I want to make sure I get them right. Part # 12589227. Is this what I need.

Motor is a stock bottom 99 346 Ls1 with AFR 225cc heads and APS Twin Turbo kit. Will these gaskets fit my motor. Bore size and all?

Thanks Jordan

curious as to why you would use 6.0 gaskets on a 346, instead of the 5.7 gaskets it should have ?

Probably a slight oversight

I'm putting 5.7L GM MLS on my turbo 346 as well, can't argue with the number of successful setups running them.

You need to run the appropriate gasket for the chamber on the head, not the cylinder bore. I thought the standard AFR 225s needed a gasket with a bore larger than even the GM 6.0L MLS gaskets had? I thought I read somewhere that AFR recommends 4.135 as a minimum bore for their standard 225 heads and the GM 6.0L gasket is 4.03? I also remember seeing somewhere that people use the LS7 head gaskets (if they didn't want cometic or felpro) because the bore was bigger or close to what AFR recommends? Anybody know anything else about this, want to make sure I am not repeating bad info.

Exactly. The AFR 225 heads have a 4.100 bore chamber where the LS2 GM MLS gasket has a bore diameter of around 4.060. The GM LS7 MLS gasket would be a better gasket to run with the AFR 225 heads than the LS2 gasket since it has a bore diameter of 4.150.

on an aluminum motor both are important. you dont want to match the head but sit the fire ring outside of the sleeve either.

WOW!!! So what the hell do I need. Glad I didn't order them today.
Do the LS7 head gaskets line up with the coolant ports on the 99 Ls1 block?
Anyone know the part number for that. What gasket is everyone else using on the AFR 225cc setup?

Call up AFR and talk to Tony Mamo about it since he would know exactly what you need. Then post it up here.

On AFR's website it has a part number for either 99 heads or the newer 01 heads I believe. So stock GM MLS 5.7 gaskets is what I need or no? Is anyone else running AFR 225 heads with a stock bore?

Tony mentioned using the LS7 gaskets on the 225cc heads to me.

The website also shows the Fel-Pro #1041 which is a 4.135" bore..
