Default Pair of 9.4x's @ 144 with a 260* water temp... Come inside! :)

Went to milan's heads up race in D/R... Car was awesome with the new EWP and electric fans, until the head gaskets blew... I passed the 1000' mark and the temp guage hit 260 in a ****** second... I do not know how hott the water really got... I shut it down and ran the fan/ pump immeadiately and it came down to 200 in about 5minutes...

How hott can ls6 alum heads get before warping? Do you guys think the heads could be shot? I'm yankin them off Sunday and will see what damage i did... I just want to know and still see if theirs hope for memphis...

Thanks!

Oh she went 9.43 @ 144 with a 1.50 60' on Radials...

congrats on the new best

I sorry to hear about the issues as well. I strongly suggest having the heads checked and maybe a light clean up pass on the heads deck surface.

Most likely didnt hurt anything, its happened to me a few times when the car was low on water, temp guage pinned until halfway down the return road. Thats how I know when its pushing water..

Like larry said, pull the heads and have a light surface cut done, look real close at the cylinder walls and make sure one isnt starting to crack also.

The EWP had to of been working. I shut off at 1000' and coasted with engine off... about 5min after i shut the engine off and left the EWP and fan on, the motor cooled down to 200... I fired her up and drove back to the pits with the temp around 210...

Water spewed all over the radiator cap and busted it... Water was all on the right side of the engine bay and down the right side of the car...

I can have the gaskets done in a day... However to make memphis, if the heads are warped or jacked up, I dont think i could get them finished.

I want to make Memphis and with this drama, it's getting shaky...

Thanks for all your posts guys... Hopefully I'll see ya at the shootout!

I'll post what i find tomorrow w/ some pics...

Thats a pretty bad overheat, something else might be going on other than blowing a head gasket. All you can do is take it apart and see whats going on, hopefully you can make it out, its a great looking and running car.

thanks kp!

a bunch of w2w guys were their last night helping me out aswell... they feel its the gaskets too... maybe because i freshened up the blower, it made more boost causing the gaskets to blow... maybe the tunes off? hell if i know, but im rippin this thing off tomorrow and gonna take a look at somethings...

if i can have it ready by wednesday, re-test at milan and hopefully run some 9.39s, then haul *** to Memphis... thats in a perfect world tho...

i had a similur problem. hit 260deg. 5 minutes later it was down to 190. when i took the heads in they told me they were warped and needed a clean up. seems like one pass at the min amount they can take off wasn't enough. not sure how much 2 passes is but thats what it took to clean them up.

Congrats on the championship! That blue ws6 was sweet as hell...

I might go to Memphis with or without the T/A, but i'm workin on it right now... I'll update soon...

Parish - thanks for the info... my dad may clean the heads up @ his shop... If not, i'll have w2w take care of em...
