Exclamation 2005 GTO w/ Maggy

Alright...my Dad's GTO got dyno'd at ECS in Creamridge the other day. He had ECS's Blower Cam and a Meth kit put in....the previous dyno numbers with just the blower were roughly 450/450....he got the dyno sheets and to my surprise the jump wasn't the major....he put down 489 rwhp and 501 rwtq....is that about right? I believe the car is running at about 8psi currently....let me know if that sounds right to you....

That does not sound too bad. Meth is not a power adder just cools the temp to run more timing. He gained 39 RWHP/50 RWTQ with the cam and meth. With the GTO having an IRS thats not all that bad. Does he have any other mods like headers or any other type of exhaust? Did they increase the boost as well or is the 450/450 at 8#'s as well? I think its pretty good. But I would not base that gain as good or bad through here, if your dad is happy with his gains and likes it that is what matters. His torque curve will show the real gains.

He has the Kooks LT's, SLP LM1, some shitty intake, and I believe thats it....I mean...I thought he'd gain a tad more power...and he was only at 4psi at the 450/450....so with the cam, meth, and additional 4psi I would think the gains would have been more signifigant....

You have to realize with the roots blowers if you spin them very fast you're actually gonna start creating a lot of heat... I don't know if meth will help it much above that... does he have aftermarket valve springs on there?? What does his graph look like??

Normally the meth/alky injections work well with the Maggie's, but of course there are some that almsot do nothing too. That goes for any F/I kit really with the meth kits. I assume they changed his pulley when they did these mods to increase boost. If he made these changes on the standard pulley that it came with then he is only seeing 5-6 lbs of boost which would not be too bad. My C6 with a maggie and headers made 480/450 at 5.5lbs of boost. ECS has a good rep for F/I especially with Corvettes with thier Paxton, and ATI kits the do. So if something was up they would have said something. Did they change the pulley out to increase the boost? Are you guys actually seeing 8lbs on a gauge?

I haven't seen the car yet...my dad picked it up the other day...when I drove the car last time, he was holding 4psi, if he was lucky....(i couldn't figure out why, he had a smaller pulley on it) and now he said the gauge is reading 8 psi....I gotta get the dyno sheet and see what th a/f was reading....btw..they changed the under drive pulley as well...

If he had an underdrive pulley on there that would account for him having lower boost in the begining unless they offset the underdrive pulley with a smaller pulley. It sounds like there is nothing majorly wrong with the setup but there may be more power in it down the road. But for it sounds like pretty good numbers to me. Someone with alot more knowledge may be able to chime in though. I would think with 8#'s it might be a bit higher but those numbers are not all that bad. It took my P1SC 10#'s of boost in my C5 to get to 500/460 FWIW.

I was talking to Chuck from HPE and he said he thinks their is something seriously wrong with it....but he really didn't tell me any reasons besides it other than the tune being off...

If for any reason you think its the tune get ahold of ECS and have them look into it. If you show no other physical issues thats about all it could be. Good Luck

Just curious...does he have the 112, 112HH, or the 122? With the 112HH or the 122, you can run the same amount of boost and be more efficient (less heat, etc...).
