Default Turbocharged LS1 Questions

Recently drove an LS1 equipped vehicle. I LOVED it! I can possibly get a good deal on an LS1 engine, and was wondering what all would have to be done to turbocharge one? Injectors? MAF? MAP? I am a carburetor guy, but getting into a vehicle that has not been started for a couple months and having it fire with the turn of a key, make great power, and get great economy at the same time would be way too cool. Thanks, gang!

Yeah, sorry about that. I realized that some information might help ya'll help me a couple hours later after the fact. :-P

I am not wanting to go insane with horsepower or money. The LS1 I drove was a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette I recently purchased just to sell. (Going to be MUCH harder to sell than I thought, for obvious reasons.)

A friend of mine's cousin has an LS1 lying around from another 2001 'vette, and I am going to guess I can get a pretty good deal on it. I was thinking something along the lines of a mild rebuild (forged goodies, of course) and a turbocharger along with a mild tune. I think 600 horsepower would be an absolute blast and pretty easy to achieve. Hehehe

This will (if works out) be going into a 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, so I will need wiring and such, but was really needing to know what all will need replacing/changing/upgrading to support 600 horses. As I said, I do not know a hole heck of a lot about fuel injection. :-P I have a factory computer(out of the 'vette) that I can get rebuilt (needs it) and the rest of the engine is there, as far as I know. Will stuff like the stock MAF, MAP and such be sufficient for a somewhat low budget/low horsepower build? I will need a wiring harness, too, I reckon.

If there is anything else, just let me know!

Thanks a lot!

600rwhp:

Forged pistons, with at least a 10cc dish.
Forged rods
Stock crank is fine
turbo/blower/spray...whatever is to your liking
Cam matched to power adder
Timing chain upgrade
Oil pump upgrade (LPE, SLP)
head studs
better head gaskets
HPtuners, EFIlive, or whatever tuning prop you use
upgraded fuel rails
upgraded fuel pump (Walbro 255, etc...) with voltage booster (KB BAP, etc...)
60# injectors
LS6 or LS2 intake, or aftermarket equivalent (FAST, TYPHOON, sheetmetal)
Bigger TB
manifolds if turbo, LT's if blown or sprayed
custom exhaust piping
more, but I'll let others add...to SAFELY build a 600rwhp motor.

What modifications do you have done to the LS1, duece_454? Rotating assembly, tuners, etc...?

Thanks!
