Default Head gaskets again!!!!!!!

I know there are sooo many posting on head gaskets, believe me i been searching. I still have not got the answer to what head gasket to use. I have a 370 ci iron block, pt91.5 turbo dart heads 225. Is there a such thing as the best head gasket to use? What are the hi hp cars using or is it just personal preference ?

I used the 6ltr. mls gasket's from gm for awhile and then went to the new 5 layer gasket's. As far as a best gasket,I am not sure. The one problem you will find is the deck height on the Dart head's are thin. Alot also has to do with your tune. I had the dart's for a year and 900rwhp,and only if I ran the car hard back to back it would push water. Proper cool down and they were fine.

From what I understand the Dart's have one of the thinnest deck's.They are about the same as a stock casting, just a better material. I could be wrong though.

Was fine with my 370ci motor with GM 6.0L MLS gaskets till i got over 20 psi......
after that i would push water.... that was with 6.0L heads...

Thicker deck World heads now, O-ringing block and heads and Copper gaskets now.... we will see.....

I have faith in my builder

It doesn't matter what gasket you use on a 4 bolt block. When you start pushing over 1000 rwhp you'll start pushing water! IT'S NOT THE GASKET!!!!

I wonder how the Ohio Boys are both running 7's and close to 2K KP with 4 head bolts per Cyl..............
O-ringed heads and MLS gaskets is what they both say............

I run copper -oring which will still push water. If don't want to push water buy a LSX.

Im looking to run like mid to high 8's would gm MLS gaskets work with minimum water pushing since all 4 bolts will push. or to better suite the question what gasket you recommend for the 4bolt heads?

I personally would NOT do copper again. Run mls and I think you could run alot of 8.9's. When you start to get to 8.5's you'll push.. It's not the end of the world, just keep an eye on it. The key is to not have ANY detionation! Good luck.

Btw, I wasn't try to be negitive. I'm just telling you from a guy who has personally replaced ALOT of head gaskets!

I know some of the guys are filling the blocks.W2W twin turbo car back in the day was a filled block. The cylinders are so thin along with the deck they just move around under high hp applications. As LASTLS1 sayed the key to holding gaskets is going to be the tune and don't get greedy with timing.
