Talking FMIC Relocation Project (PICS)

Well, making a lot of progress on my FMIC project. Current stock locations is on top of Radiator and AC Condenser. Moving the FMIC to the front bumper support. Here are some pics:

Current FMIC Location:

Bumper support cut and mounted (haven't deburred the edges yet in this shot):

Bumper cover cut and cleaned. Left two strips for support of the billet grill.

Bumper cover installed over the FMIC (mock up - 31x12x4) and bumper support.

Billet grill installed. This will be painted flat black once I get my FMIC in.

All that I have left is to mount the FMIC once it ships. Just going with an Ebay FMIC (31x12x4). I'm going to try and weld up the new cold pipes once I get those in too. 2.5" from compressor to FMIC inlet then 3" from FMIC outlet to the TB. So far so good. Thanks for everyone that supplied me pics in my FMIC thread. Guys gave me some inspiration to go through with this.

We sell mounting brackets for the ebay cores, just have to make sure yours is the 19 3/4s on center mount.

You must be talking about the bumper cover (plastic fisca). I was going to just leave little tabs at first, but I figured the bumper would be to flimsy for the billet grill. After mounting it all up, it doesn't look half bad. Goes well with the vertical supports on the grill.

To you and others who have bought and used the 31x12x4 intercoolers from ebay, what is your overall opinion of quality and efficiency? Anyone lose a noticeable amount of boost? Pressure loss, etc. ??

I will let you know as soon as mine gets installed. The one in my car now will be up for sale once I get it out of the car. Most of the guys that run the ebay FMICs (as far as I have read) have had good luck with them.

With my rear mount turbo and 4" FMIC I'm seeing 4 psi at the intake manifold with a 5 lb spring in the wastegate. Wastegate is referenced to the turbo outlet. Depending on how you look at it, that's a 1 psi drop, or it's a 20% drop...

I've only had it up to 11 psi so far using the boost controller, but don't know what the pressure is back at the turbo, vs. that 11 psi at the manifold.

The end tanks show some oxidation on the outside, faster than the other aluminum parts under the hood.

the ebay units ive seen 31x12x3 or 31x12x4 have held up good and my buddies car holds 8 psi (wastegate spring) all day long no matter what is going on. Unless of course we have a loose charge pipe/coupler...

When I switched over from the duels from procharger I gained a lb or a little less of boost. I had the 3.5" duels. Im sure it does have boost drop though.
