Red face lowering compression necessary?

i really want to be a rice killer. is it really necessary to lower the compresion of a stock ls1 to get between 450-550rwhp. ive done many searches and all i came up with stock ls1 is 400 rwhp-450rwhp. i would like to be faster then a c6zo6 or at least be close to it. --is lowering the compression overkill to try to get this power. i want it to be a daily driver only mods i have now is lts,ls6 intake, catback exhaust, oh yea its an a4. i dont want to do some crazy *** cam nor do i want a stall converter. so help me out guys. i know this has been beaten up many times. and if i do lower the compresion how much power am i looking at.

i have stock compresstion and 8psi, so it can be done. its all in the tune.

IMO, without even a stall you arent going to be waxing any zo6's tho....

Check out the LS2 GTO, which has a compression ratio of 10.9/1.

I'm sitting on 481 at my last dyno run @ 7.5 psi. I'm hoping to break 500 rwhp this weekend with a few little tweaks I've done, still 7.5 psi, completely stock motor. I'm not gonna be stompin any c6zo6's soon, though. Maybe with my drag radials I can come close to keeping up.

i hear the z06 cam is good for forced induction..sorry if i didnt mention before but i was looking into the d1sc procharger. i was talking the a machine shop here in my town lodi,ca and they pretty much said if i want it as a daily driver that i should keep the block as it is im guessing the compression, and freshen up the block with new rings etc. so anyother insight. i just always had the impression that i had to lower the compresion in order to get some good horse power numbers. most of all i want something reliable thats going to last and just not break down..if i have to spend the money i will but i want to make sure i get what i want. also 600rwhp doenst sound so bad either.

If you planing on replacing rings you might as well put some forged lower comp pistons and forged rods in there with some decent rod bolts. Gives you room to grow.
