Default BOV Question

Tried the search and couldnt find anything. Was just wondering if you should run a bov with every turbo application or should you be at a certain boost level before you need one. This is for an automatic tranny application.

Thanks
Brad

I was told at one time that they were basically for m6 cars and when you look under turbo faq it says they are more for manual tranny's.But I thought that it wouldn't matter the type of tranny. If your makeing boost and the throttle blades shut when you let off the gas then you have backpressure. But I figured I would ask you guys because there are alot of nolidgeable people on this site and I appreciate all the help I have recieved over the years.

Thanks
Brad

it reduces stress on the throttle blade and the turbo and seems like the right thing to do.

have i ever personally seen damage from not having one.. no.

i have one on my car and do not have one on my truck, both run over 20psi all the time.

More then anything they can cause damage to the expensive turbo. For a cheaper part, it would suck to ruin a 1000+ dollar turbo on not buying a sub 200 dollar part.

well i would think that doing a WOT run up to 6-7000 rpms, and letting off wouldn't be good for the turbo or throttle body..... where would the excess boost go?
