Default clutch slip with procharger install

i just got done installing my new procharger kit and everything went well on the dyno, but i'm getting some fairly serious clutch slip mostly in the higher rpm range in pretty much every gearl. i have a spec 3 with billet flywheel which is supposed to be rated for 680 ft.-lbs. if i'm not mistaken. only has maybe 2-3k on the clutch, why the hell would this thing be slipping?!?!?

is your clutch bled properly? should have gone with the 3+, it has more holding power, it held up for me pretty well. when you installed it did you use the shim that came with it? did you maybe get something on the disk? or maybe its just not enough cluch for your motor

Does your clutch pedal grab at the top of the pedal travel? When I had my Spec 3+, the pressure plate constantly rode the TOB because the shim was too thick. Had it removed and it worked great..that is until it saw 14psi

The Spec Stage 3 should be plenty of clutch for 8 to 10 psi of boost, it served me quite well in the past in my Camaro. The post from the people above would be here I would start. Bob

so silver, when was yours slipping? what gears, rpm, etc. just wondering cause i don't know if what you're saying would apply or not. i felt the clutch slip a few times before when i just had bolt-ons and a cam, but def. more frequent now so could the increased power just be magnifying the problem? just seeing if this is a likely good fix before i tear into it. also, could bleeding the clutch really make this problem go away?

also, anyone's opinion on whether i should see if spec will resolve the situation or just get another clutch and learn my lesson? anyone had a similar experience and had it resolved by spec??? anyone...

for the 10 minutes it will take to bleed your clutch, give it a try, youve had this problem for a while if it was slipping with just boltons.

does it make a difference that it shifts into every gear ok initially, but as soon as i get into boost at all it will slip from like 2500 almost all the way to redline if i hit the gas enough???

I recommend taking the shim out as suggested. I have had more than a few people remove then after about 2-5miles due to slipping. It has fixed them all

were the cars you removed the shim from having the same issues? were they FI or NA? just hoping to get as much info as possible so taking this thing apart isn't in vain. also, could the problem be NOT having the shim installed?

If your clutch engages at the very top of the pedal travel (up position) then I would consider it a shim problem. If not then something else is wrong. My clutch engaged at the very top and I always had a feeling it was never fully engaged due to the shim. If started to finally slip after bout 2000 miles. Any luck in the Manual Transmissions section?

it seems to happen around 2k. I think thats when they are fully bedded. The fingers move out towards the slave as it wears then the slave holds the clutch because the shim is in.
If it didn't have the shim and needed on it would be hard to put in gear while stopped

Suggestion, try the bleed and if that doesn't work then try the shim adjust. If its still slipping or if you note that the clutch has hot spots when adjusting the shims, I suggest looking into one of the Textralia clutches. (I've never really been a Spec fan). I have the old style OZ700 from 2004 and it hold s the power from my STS heads/cam car just fine, The clutch has10,000+ miles on it, probably 75+ drag passes, and zero issues. I've even done some launches at 5K RPM on it. Textralia also has great customer service.

Anyhow, start easy (bleed) and go from there. Just my $0.02

Best of luck to ya'.

wow, thanks for all the help and feedback guys. the shim issue sounds pretty dead on the money, seeing as i have about 2500 mis. on the clutch and my pedal release IS fairly high. so everyone cross their fingers, cause i think monday is the day i'll pull it out up at the shop and see how it goes. i don't need to like RE-break-in the clutch after i do this, do i? i can't imagine i would but thought i'd ask in case. and if this doesn't work, the textralia will be going in when the tax return gets here.

Oh yah. those shims are there just to wear the clutch faster so you have to buy another sooner than you should. Or it will kill the TOB. Had a trans out 2 or 3 times in one week because of that issue.
