Welding onto exhaust housing?
Ok,
I have an STS system. It employs a clamp style flange out of the exhaust housing while the turbo I have now uses a 4-bolt flange style. I may be trading the turbo (if I can find someone to trade with), but on the off chance I can't, this will be going in. I was just wondering if it'd be ok to weld the downpipe to the actual exhaust housing or if that'd create problems with the housing itself. For those not familiar with the STS system, the "downpipe" is literally just a 12" tailpipe essentially ... if that makes any difference.
Thanks for the input.

Welding can warp the housing which would be bad since they are a tight clearance part IIRC. Plus it might make servicing difficult.
Also hard to to reliably welds to cast iron unless you really know what you are doing.
