Default LQ9 was missing alternator threaded hole?

Anyone else find out while assembling their IRON 6.0 that its missing the drivers side alternator bracket hole ? I was so pissed today LOL!! I even went to my local dealer where i bought it ,Thinking i got a bad apple? but felt like an REAL!!*** hole when he pulled out a picture of the front of the 6.0 engine showing they never put a threaded hole there in the LQ9 block. Now I gotta see how bad I really am with a drill LOL!!I allways thought EVERYTHING was the same between the two blocks exept the bore and being made of iron I guess i was wrong!Anybody else ever find out when going to put the alternator on ???

Yeah, they didn't com with the hole. Bolt the bracket up to use as a guide. I bought a $5.00 bit from ACE hardware, nothing special. Make sure its where you want it and go. The cast iron drills pretty easy with a fresh bit. Take your time, you don't need a ton of drill speed.

My buddy was jacked like you. We were in a bind and got it tapped that night. Small stuff like this would really be nice to know ahead of time. Alot easier to drill and tap outside the car.

Did you have to tap the top of your waterpump for your OFI kit? Just curious because I just bought the OFI kit

Default Everthing is good

Thanks !To all of you LOL!!I tightened up the bracket with the alternator useing the 2 bolt holes and put the third bolts threw the bracket and alternator and taped it enough to leave a mark on the block which actually looks like a little TINY circle which is the way the end of the long bolt is and i used a punch to mark the center of that and used a 1/8 " bit and made a tiny dimple and then used the 11/32 drill bit and used the bracket as a guide !The reason I used the 1/8" bit was beacause the 11/32" bit will still move around in the bracket alittle beacause its still thinner then the bracket holes. It worked great guys and then I took my time with the tap and everthing is **** !!LOL!!

I'm putting my A/C back in and moving my Alt. bracket back down to the factory location. I don't have any of the bolts to go into the ac condensor or the alt. bracket. Anyone know what size they are? I would just go to GM and pick them up but the last two times I went to get some bolts from GM they were $4-6 for each bolt and I was able to pick them up at ACE hardware from around a dollar. Also, what size tap to I need? Thanks- Mike.
