Default What Cam/compression should I run?

truck is pictured below. 6000+lbs What's gonna be a good cam for the 408/Kenne Bell blower? It is currently 235/235 @50 612 intake 612 exhaust 116 lobe separation in 2* advance 114 intake centerline. 8.4:1cr

I think the compression is way too low for this blower. The cam and compression were chosen for the turbo which I no longer have.

Thanks in advance. Oh, also running a Yank SC3000 stall if that matters

What boost are you running? What intercooler & related bits? Will you tow at all?

With the big KB and your rig's weight, I think that's a great CR. You can tailor your power vs. engine reliability by changing pullies, and with that CR you have a wider range to play with than most of us.

Nice truck - I'd love to do a rig like that.

current boost is only 13lbs. will go as high as i have to to make the power i want. 700rwhp goal. No towing. KB is mounted on top of the engine and the intercooler is the bottom side of it. It also has a front mounted heat exchanger. intake temps are already very high. gotta deal with that too

I would look to the Cobra/Lightning crown for big front mount heat exchangers and see if you could mount a couple in your truck. Would you consider a bed mounted water tank so you had a larger volume of coolant? Lastly, you could look at a alky injection kit for hot days & hi-boost situations.

For the cam, I don't think yours is far off. If I was going to change anything it would be to add maybe 6-10 degrees of exhaust duration and perhaps tighten the LSA to 114-115.

Cool project.

i've been reading thru some mustang forums about the kenne bell/whipple heat problems. I haven't found any good solution yet. Some theories, but no good solutions.

You are right about the A2W solution but with a large water tank and a couple large heat exchangers I think you would be fine. You could mount a couple large exchangers under the bed even. Or even a secondary radiator and e-fan in the bed pointed backwards.

Is your truck still being worked on by W2W powertrain. If so why not have them set it up for you?

at the moment, no. The trans is out and in a million pieces. The trans guy called today and said he'd never seen a 80e that f'd up, lol. oops. he said the fluid didn't look that bad. Then i informed him that the fluid was a week old. After he stopped laughing he said, well, your fluid looked really bad then, lol.

the truck is amazing on the highway, even with the trans being busted. around town it sucked because the trans was slipping bad in 2nd and 3rd.

i think my problem is I want 700rwhp off idle. Not gonna happen unless I get a massive big block with huge compression
