Default Prime New motor

How should I prime my new forged motor....ok to just pull plugs and fuel and bump the motor over with starter?

i would pull all the fuel injector plugs and turn engine over unitl you build oil pressure on the guage.

whats the beneifit to turning it over with the starter vs it turning over by itself running? That has always been my procedure.

I have seen people do it by cranking... it takes forever for it to come up on the gauge and i dont like the engine just turning and turning and turning waiting and waiting.

i usually just unplug the coil and crank it just until the gauge moves.. probably no better than just firing it.. i just want to confirm that it will get pressure before starting it..

heat+no oil=bad

the starter turns the motor over much slower then having the engine run and there is no "firing" so there should be no heat either

We pull the injector fuse out, and unplug the coil packs and spin the motor over.

If it's an F-body, if you are talking about the small (physical size) fuse under the hood in the box closest to the front of the car labeled IGN, that will stop both the plugs and injectors from firing.
