I would say youd be close if not there. The only think that might keep you from hitting that 1000rwhp mark is that damn auto and stall.

I think you'd be easily in the 9xx rwhp range, so a 1000rwhp is not out of reach.

Run that turbo and a/r past Jose at FI and make sure it's right for your goals.

Yeah but drivetrain I would say is the biggest problem with these cars. 9's should be quit easy to hit a Nice N/A 402 can hit 9's with the right setup im sure.

Assuming full weight, or thereabouts, you would need 700-750rwhp depending on raceweight for 9's.

9's full weight just take some power, figure like 700-750rwhp.

I figure it's closer to 750-800 for a full weight turbo car based on the fact that a full weight car + turbo stuff + safety stuff + stronger aftermarket trans/rear is at least an addition 200lbs putting a raceweight at 3800-3850 with a 200lb driver.

My setup is 3800 race weight and trapping 135-136 mph wich puts me at the 750 rwhp AVERAGE going off the simple HP calcs. I'd guess it probably makes 780 hp at the peak.

Either way the OP should be able to go high 9's on that setup. I'm almost in the 9s with a heavy car, a rear mount 80mm turbo and 16psi of boost. Just takes time to dial a setup in and get it working consistantly.

I'm sure Zombie, heck you'd be in the 9's now with more gear.

I went 10.05@137.8mph (1.51) at like 3400 raceweight, 16 psi, I figure that's about 680-700rwhp for me. I went 9.4@144 at 680rwhp with my old blower setup at 18 psi and 3500 raceweight, but it did 60ft a 1.35.

Thats right in the ball park according to the calcs, 690 average HP needed to go 138 mph at 3400lbs. Car probably peaked around 720 rwhp.

As for more gear in my car, i'm going the opposite direction... less gear (taller tires). Going to cross in 2nd gear instead. I spend 2 seconds in 3rd now dumping all my power into the converter at 20% slip. My slip in 2nd gear at 7000 is 4%. Going to run my TH400 like a power glide. Yes I know I'm strange, but my car is consistantly fast so it negates my wierdness. I finally got a set of skinnies to run on the car too now, no more stock SS front runners.

I doubt the OP will ever see the 1000 RWHP on the dyno, but on the track at 3800lbs it should be able to go 148-150mph, which is 1000 RWHP.

I eventually will go that way as well. A 2.50 rear gear with a TH400 is the same gearing (launchwise) as a glide with 3.55s (common turbo setup).

Bob, when are you going to work on getting that car down the track and not in the air?
