Default Position of F-body fuel tank??

Hey everyone. Great site. Ive already found an *** load of inf that i couldnt find anywhere else.

But my question is where is the fuel tank positioned in relation to the fuel door? How much higher is the filler cap than the tank?

Im putting a 02 Camaro tank under the trunk of my '63 ChevyII and there is a good foot in vertical differance from where the gas door is to the top of the tank.

Will this pose an overflowing problem when i try to fill the tank?

its not a foot higher, thats for sure. are you using all the emissions stuff with the tank, or just plugging them off?

i think you might stand a chance of saturating the charcoal canister with fuel.

the factory spot is at an area at the top front of the tank. its a bit smaller than and old gas can. as guess, though, you could always relocate it to a higher position, so as to not cause a problem. thats the only thing i could think of that could cause a problem

Thanks slowpoke. That was really what my concern was.

Im thinking i can relocate the canister and valve up into the wheel well near the location of the filler inlet on the quarter.

What about this? Is this a vent? The tube is open ended. Should this be routed up near the charcoal canister as well?

i dont know what that is. my guess is that it is an overpressure blow-off valve. i would route its tube high as well, just to be safe. maybe someone else has a better knowledge of that piece.

Default Fill Tube

I think that when you fill it up, the first time the pump clicks off, STOP. Don't overfill it and you should be fine...
