Question Is this the reason I'm smelling fuel?

My setup has been this way for a while, and I've always thought it was just because I didn't have cats on my car. But the fuel smell is getting overwhelming and I'm thinking there might be more to it so I've started doing research on here...

A while back we had to take the hardline off (neon green in the picture) because the little clip cracked and broke off. My builder said I didn't need it and we just capped it off (white cap on the intake manifold) and he tuned it out of my computer. Not sure what the black canister thing is, but I know all this has to do with my fuel system.

Would this be the cause of the strong fuel odor? or is it just me not having cats...? It's not really noticeable while driving. But anytime I come to a stop (redlight, stop sign, or whatever) the odor just fills the cabin when my windows are down...

thats the EVAP, and i would hook a hose back up between the two. The fuel smell could be your gas tank venting to your engine compartment.

Guess I'm just wondering how the fuel is getting into my cab... I mean yea, the windows are down, but shouldn't all the exhaust exit out my tailpipes out the rear of the car and not come in the cab...?

Yes, fuel vapors come out of that line but you need a vent somewhere for the tank. Why not just put a piece of vacuum hose between that solenoid and the port?

Never thought of something as simple as a vacuum hose... guess I'll try that
