External fuel pump question?

External fuel pump question? Can anybody recommend an external pump which will support over 500 HP. It's for an lsx engine which has been retrofitted into another chassis. Thanks.

Check weldons web page! Alot of the big time racers use Weldon parts! I would say 80% of them. But what ever you do stay away from Aeromotive pumps. 95% of the people I know have had problems and had to remove them! All the other Aeromotive parts are good!

A Weldon 2025 can in fact handle like 900rwhp.
I have one, but I am taking it off since it's hella loud and I want to drive my car on the street more.
I would look into the Bosch 420L external pumps. I am having Speed Inc. install two of them on my car next week.

I've done some checking and LS1Speed's price for the pump/fittings is definitely competitive. You'll need fittings for adapting it to -10 inlet and -8 outlet... they have those as well.

I have to say, that there must be some conflicting info about pumps.
I know of quite a few people who use the 044 Bosch pump, but only in the USA have I seen it rated so highly, at 420lph.
Most ratings I have seen, place it at around 180-200lph, which is somewhat different, unless there are more than one version of the 044 motorsport pump.

I have also seen a claim recently that says it will flow 330lph.
Why are there so many different claims???
Its biggest asset, is its flow ability at high pressures, where most other pumps would start to suffer a bit.. It is commonly used on the Ford Sierra Cosworth here, but AFAIK, 500bhp is pretty much its upper limit.
HP ratings are one thing, but it depends entirely what sort of fuel pressures you intend using. There are a lot of efi pumps that could flow enough fuel for 500bhp, at say 3psi in a carb setup, but ask it to supply that same quantity of fuel at say 60psi, then its another matter entirely.
Mike, have you considered running 2 pumps in-parallel ??
Ive been using an Aero A1000+controller for a while now, and have no complaints. Having said that, I will be looking to go bigger soon.
What about the Barry Grant range of fuel pumps ?? They seem to offer huge flow rates ??

Hows it going over there. I'll email you in a moment. I'd prefer 1 pump to 2. I took a look at the ls1speed site which says the bosch is good enough for 750 HP. Interesting stuff.

The high pressure 8 bar pump is still rated at 200lph, but obviosuly it will maintain this flow at the higher pressure, where as the std 044 will def not.

The Weldon stuff is rock solid, but loud. The whine of the pump is sometimes cool but most of the time it was the loudest aspect of the car. But many hardcore race cars obviously run them.
I will be using two Bosch pump from Speed Inc. to support 700-800rwhp.

Rock solid is what I look for in car parts! And Weldon now has a smaller pump (inline) and a big daddy 2345 that says it is not as loud! But if weldon says it is not as loud then it is about as loud as a fire truck horn!

There is the same topic running now on turbomustang with about the same pumps being talked about.

NO NO stay away from Aeromotive pumps! Been there done that sucked big time! We have talked about the Aeromotive pumps in the FI forms! And you will find 9out of 10 people have problems with them heating up and stop working!

Stay away from the Aeromotive pumps. Some people have great luck with them, a lot have no luck.
I run the Bosch pump from speed inc. Its noisy, but not ridiculous by any means. I have heard much worse.
