Default shi**y gas gauge

i think my gas gauge has gone retarded. it now likes to stay at full for a very long time then at about 140 miles it begins to drop fast and it will sometimes drop from about full to about half a tank in like 10 miles. WTF. do the stock gauges suck or somethin. do i need to clean out my fuel system. anyone know whats goin on?

yea that's weird... well i think we all know that our stock GM gas guages suck. they're usually full full full... then they slow start to drop, then once you get under half a tank it just GOOOOES. but yea, that is not normal for even retarded fuel guages like GM's. i don't know what the fix is there... i think you just need a new guage. i don't think you have to clean anything out...

I'm pretty sure it is a problem with the sending unit in the tank...mine does the same thing. I just learned to never rely on it.

mine lasts for like 100 miles and then it starts going down from full. I can turn the car off park, crank it back up and it dropped a 1/4 tank. Its crap.

yea i just go by miles normally i was just wondering if it was a common thing....what does anyone do to fix this....replace the sending unit and get a new gas gauge like an a-piller gauge? i just get annoyed by it sometimes and if someone else like my dad is driving my car i want him to be able to read the damn gauges correctly. (not that i let him drive the car too often)

I don't think the guage has anything to do with it...it only reads a voltage output from the sending unit. If it is getting a shitty signal, that's all it is gonna show you.
