Default Please Help Me Decide Which Gears!!!!

Hey guys i need help on choosing gears. For now my car has the stock 10 bolt with stock 3.23, my mods are in sig. I know everyone says 3.73's are perfect for auto's but how would 4.10's work, like would it be horrible for highway driving?? It's not my dd but i do drive it alot on the weekend's and maybe 2-3 times a year i take it to the track. I was also wondering does any company make a 3.90 gear for the stock 10 bolt? if so what do yall think of those?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yea man...I'd like to know if they make 3.90's for the stock auto, that would be nice. Personally, I've got 4.11's in a strange 12 bolt and I love it. However, I've also got an M6. All in all...I say the 4.11's are perfect for the M6's...but I'd think you'd be happier with something a little higher than just 3.73's, with the kind of driving you do. So...trying to find 3.90's would be great for your application in my opinion. Hope this leads you into choosing something a tad higher than 3.73's. lol

lol yeah thanks man i appreciate it. Well i want a 12 bolt but i aint got that kind of money right now lol, but do u think the stock rear will hold up at the track with the mods i have??? I havent ran it yet and im a little scarred that if i launch it with some sticky tires... lol i should have just bought a 12 bolt instead of the h/c/i lol

Honestly man...I'd be sure to bring a trailer if you're going to launch it hard. lol I've heard stories about guys blowing out their stock rears with no mods...GM didn't build the 10 bolt to handle much. That's why I went and put the rear in first, that way, I had already spent the 2,500 bucks on something I knew would hold whatever I decided to throw at it in the future. I'm currently working on putting a TSP Torquer V.2 112 in my car, and my rear will just laugh at it. lol But hey man, if you don't have the money for a 12 bolt...I'd recommend not launching it hard, perhaps slipping the clutch at the line...hope that helps you out a little.

I know you are on the 12-bolt band wagon right now, but it looks like you never gave the little 10-bolt credit.

With my old WS6, I had richmond 4.10 gears, everything else was stock with a 6spd and et streets. I launched that car about 200 times from 4500-5500rpm, got 1.5x - 1.6x 60's all the time with NO PROBLEMS. Using a soft wrinkle wall tire will allow the diff to sustain higher launches without breaking. With a A4 would even be better on the rear due to being loaded.

Anyways, for the answer to this topic, what size tires are you going to be using in the rear? 26", use 3.73's, 28", use 4.10's...

M6 = 4.10's

A4 = 3.73's

If you do any highway driving expect around 3k+ RPMS at interstate speed with 4.10's in an A4

I used to baby my launch and I still broke my 10 bolt with only 1.8 60fts. I was only running 12s at the time too. There have been some that last, but they aren't very strong in my opinion
